Defense Looks Aggressive
The defense, particularly cornerbacks, play an attacking style, lining up close to the line of scrimmage. Although the cornerbacks got beat deep a couple of times, their tight, up-close coverage is indicative of the aggressive nature of this defense.

Pass Interference
Although Patterson was called for interference on this play, Demarest wasn't critical, because it was tight coverage, and Julius made a strong effort for the ball against the talented Koren Robinson.
Patterson was one of the pleasant surprises of the spring and is a projected starter at cornerback heading into fall camp.

Goal Line Drills
This drill at the end of practice was extremely intense and spirited, with the entire team lined up along the end zone. This was a focal point of the practice, and should pay off in the fall with the offense scoring in the red zone, and the defense stopping drives at the goal line.
Notice the defense jumping at the snap, while the offense is still in their stance. Clayton White had a big tackle, and Alan Dawson jumped high to knock away a pass.

Starting Lineup
The starting defense squares off against the first-string offense. The defensive front is short in stature, but #99 Drew Wimsatt provides some height at 6'-4", clearly the tallest defender.
Also note that Philip Rivers at 6'-5" does not become hidden by the massive offensive linemen such as #70 Chris Colmer and #68 Jarvis Borum. Rivers uses the height to his best advantage surveying the field for open receivers.
