| Firewood is a renewable energy source produced locally. Standing next to a wood burning stove is a great way to get the chill out of your bones. With the rising cost of oil it makes good economic sense to burn wood to heat your home. I produce a limited amount of firewood during the course of a year, much less than some guys who buy truck loads of low grade logs and manufacture hundreds of cords a year. Firewood is a byproduct of trees I am cutting anyway, and I hate to waste wood. Therefore, I can only supply a limited number of house holds with firewood with my present set up. If you need some, get your order in early. And I will deliver it to you straight from my tree jobs. I can custom build indoor or outdoor racks to store the firewood in. A good rack keeps the wood neater and helps it dry better. Green firewood should be air dried or "seasoned" for 6 months to a year prior to burning in a furnace. Dry wood burns much cleaner, puting less gunk or cresote in your chimney. Also dry wood gives more heat than green wood. The moisture content of green wood is 60% + , While dry wood is less than 20%. I found the website below to have some interesting technical information about firewood: |
