A giant egg is unearthed and a giant moth larva hatches from it. The only thing that can stop it from destroying the city of Tokyo are two tiny twin princesses.

A lumber company
unearths the secret chamber of an ancient monster known as Desghidorah, a
three-headed monster capable of turning earth’s green landscape into a barren
desert. The twin fairies send
Mothra to destroy the creature but she is weak from giving birth and is no match
for the creature. However the egg
hatches revealing the new Mothra larva who comes to its mothers aid.
But they are no match for Desghidorah and the adult Mothra is killed.
The larval Mothra spins its cocoon on a very old tree, which has some
spiritual significance and transforms into the new Mothra Leo who is much more
powerful than its mother. This new
Mothra Leo attacks and destroys Desghidorah in a pretty cool fight scene.
My thoughts: This is the typical Kaiju movie, an evil monster shows up
and the good monster kills it. This
movie is however saved by the cool SFX and the good fight scene at the end.

The
Rebirth of Mothra II (1997):
A giant garbage-eating monster Dagarla has been
unleashed and is wreaking havoc on life in the ocean. The twin fairies send Mothra to destroy but Mothra is
defeated by the starfish like creatures that get attached to Mothra’s skin.
Dagarla is blasting away at Mothra when it changes into AquaMothra and
attacks Dagarla by dividing itself into many tiny versions of itself and sends
them inside the creature and destroys its core.
Once Dagarla Mothra then morphs from AquaMothra to Rainbow Mothra.
My thoughts: Once again your typical Kaiju movie.
This one is almost saved by the SFX but the fight scenes aren’t as good
as in the Rebirth of Mothra 1. The
thing that almost kills the movie is its story line, which is pretty dumb.

The
Rebirth of Mothra III (1998):
In the third movie of the series Mothra must battle
King Ghidorah who plans to kill all the earth’s children and steal their
energy. Part of Mothra’s plan is
to go back in time (to do this he transforms into Lightspeed Mothra) and kill
King Ghidorah while he’s not yet at full power.
Rainbow Mothra arrives back in time and defeats the young King Ghidorah
but a piece of its tail survives and regenerates to the new King Ghidorah.
The prehistoric Mothra’s build a time capsule around Mothra.
Once it’s the present Mothra emerges as Armor Mothra who proceeds to
slice up King Ghidorah. Once King Ghidorah is defeated Mothra sheds the
armor to reveal her final form, Eternal Mothra.
My thoughts: Have not seen this movie.
