Fantastic finish for our Mens team.  A fifth place finish, our best finish so far.  I am sure that next year we can move to a fourth place our even a third with some intense training.  The tournament had a very suspicious start with us being stranded at the saskatoon airport due to mechanical problems.  After some dealing with the manager we were able to secure a van to drive the rest of the distance to Regina (with the Ont. team).  The drive was a riot with non stop laughs with or at the guys from Ont., David Sly, Scott Kempchi, and Luke the dance machine Fraser.  Our hotel was great and the temp. was a cool -14 to -20.  Our first match went well with all of winning quite easily agaisnt Yukon.  Our next match was the important one if we were to move into the 3/4 playoff.  This match start off well with Matt playing extremely well crushing Scott Kemp chi 3-0. Scott is still asking what happened.  More later.

A disapointing result this year at the Teams in Torontol.  This has been our lowest result in the 4 years that I have been here.  Now for the excuses, some are legitimate ones and will help to explain such a poor result.  When we were to play Friday morning at 9 am one of our team mates was missing.  The club pro had recieved a note from Matt Bishops MD that morning stating that he was too ill to travel or play.  This put us into a bit of a deficit, since we now had to each move up a position and default our third spot.  To make matters worse I (Mike Smeltzer) came down with the flu on Saturday losing a crucial match agaisnt NWT, (we have never lost to them that I know of).  That loss put us out of the 5/6 playoff and into the next level.  So that is what happened, I will add more excuses later when I stop getting hassels (ribbing) from my loss to NWT Al Cooke who by the way played the best match of his life that day ( he was hitting nicks from every where and his fitness was top notch)  well done Alan.
