About Me
I am an aspiring Software Development student at ITT-Technical institute. It's only been my second quarter and so far everything is going well. I made it to be an honor student with academic awards and perfect attedance! I hope, with God's grace I can finish my program less than seven quarters.
What made me go back to school? I was a semicondutor professional back home, which is my country the Philippines in Southeast Asia. I was a quality and reliability engineer in several semiconductor manufacturing industry. My family and I migrated here in the U.S. in 2005. This was made possible because of my wifes' employment at a public school in the state of Maryland. We relocated here in Arkansas because a relative convinced us to move here with them. Starting here was hard. Job was hard to find. The economy was down so that made it harder for me to find a work sponsor. Eventhough I worked in the high-tech industry, I thought this would give me an advantage of getting work here easily. It was frustrating not to be able to work when I know in myself that I have what it takes to make it here. Now that the economy is better and the job market is improving, I still am not able to successfully land a job. I realized why I have not even made it in the interviews is because of my long job gaps. Employers are not entertaining my job application probably because I am not up todate with the current industry standards. Or, maybe I need to prove myself first to them.
I was able to go back to the hotel that I used to work for but I find it unfulfilling to do the same thing for a different management. I realized I have a better future if I go back to school and pursue a program that can supplement my engineering degree. ITT was not the first school that came in mind. I went to Pulaski Tech but I was not impress by their curriculum. I checked the curriculum of Software Development in the website of ITT and found it more comprehensive. This started things for me!
I put up this website to try out my new found skills in making website using HTML and CSS. This is NOT the best website out there! But, I hope that if an employer is looking at my webpage, this would give them an impression of the possibilities of how I can do more if I were given more tools and knowledge in making websites! I intend to do this by acquiring more skills from my upcoming classes this year!
