Biography

Mike Moore is chiefly known for his remarkable talent using colour pencils. His main area of work is comprised of landscapes and notable landmarks. He also takes commissions of any subject. Mike has tried to achieve his own style of photorealism strictly with coloured pencils and only began working full time at it since 1995 after moving to Marathon, Ontario on the north central shore of Lake Superior. While living deep in the Canadian Shield most of Mike's time was spent on commissioned black and white or coloured pencil portraits and creating colour pencil sketches of the rugged, unspoiled wilderness along the North Superior shoreline. In order to reach a larger market, he moved south to Uxbridge in August 2000. It is located in the farmland northeast of Toronto. Mike now concentrates on capturing the spirit of green meadows and forests, dairy, sheep, cattle and horse farms, all tucked in and about the rolling hills of the Durham Region. He entered the juried art show at the Uxbridge Town Hall in 2001. Generally he prefers to sell from galleries but he has shown his work at the Celebration of the Arts Studio Tour in Uxbridge and The Distillery District Art Show in Toronto in 2003. Mike also likes cartooning. He completed his first graphic novel, "The Adventures of Spike and the Deederoos" in 1999. It is previewed under "Graphic Novels" on his own website. Mike sells the comic as an e-book on cd. When Mike isn't sketching or cartooning he plays hockey, snorkels, goes fishing, skiis and plays tennis.
