Rawley's, Fairfield CT The dogs are tasty. I had two with kraut, mustard, cheese and bacon shards. Maddie had one. We split a cheese fries-- fries with a slice of cheese melted on top, nothing special. Bacon shards are danged good, however.
Stew Leonard's, Norwalk, CT This is a dairy store turned into a big supermarket. I was curious-- it's supposed to be a bit of an event. They had a mini-zoo outside and lots of cheap mechanical animals and so forth inside. It was a neat place. Up route 1 (stupid freakin' Streets and Trips software) instead of back on 95, finally realizing how stupid it was to go up route 1 and getting back on 95 for exactly one exit.
Complimentary in-hotel breakfast buffet alongside the business travelers. Hopped in the car, drove south a few exits to Summit to pick up some pastries from my mother's favorite childhood bakery. Back north, and into Connecticut via the Tappan Zee. Maddie used a map to navigate on the Garden State Parkway, identifying the upcoming exits and the distance to the end.
Dinosaur Crossing, New London-ish CT A nice place, a good rope climbing apparatus. There are maybe 15 dinosaur exhibits in a pretty location. Not as tacky good fun as Dinosaur Land in VA, not as thoroughly done as Dinosaur World in Florida. Arrived in RI in time for a trip to the beach. This is a road trip diary rather than a general diary, so I'll sum up RI thus: 4 trips to the beach, a polo match, a lot of home time.
