| Ok lets get one thing straight I AM NOT AN EXPERT. But i have done a considerable amount of research and real life experimentation in both low fat & low carb dieting. What method works? low fat? low carb? answer - whicever one works works best with your taste and lifestyle and you can stick to. My personal favorite CKD a Weightlifting version of low carb (Low carb-made popular by Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution). | LOW CARB Q&A - Click Here LOW CARB HOW TO PAGE (coming soon) Q- What is CKD I have never heard of it A- CKD stands for Cyclic Ketogentic DIeting, it is a low carb method of dieting where you carb load one day a week and followed by 2-3 days of very intense weightlifting Q- If you like CKD so much why aren't you currently on it? A- I used CKD's to lower my body fat quickly and it worked. I like the ketogentic method of losing weight because I am a meat lover. However, I was stalled in my weightloss and my lifting by changing my diet I have been able to break both plateus. Additionally, I feel it is very important to change up your diet every once in a while to keep your body from adapting and to avoid dietary bordom Q- How can eating lots of meat and fat be healthy. Also I've heard that ketogentic dieting is dangerous and increases you risk for heart and liver A- Fats not including hydrogenated fats have a ton of benifits to our bodies even the low fat diets require at least some fat (the non saturated kind). Fat consumption will make you feel full sooner and by introducing the proper kind of Cholestrol (HDL) into your body you keep your body from producing the unhealthy kind (LDL). A state of ketosis (achieved when your body switches from using glucose from carbohydrates as its primary source of fuel its natural secondary source - Body fat ) this state is not dangerous as some would have you believe. There have never been any legitemate studies of ketosis causing liver problems. LOW FAT Q&A - Click Here LOW FAT HOW TO PAGE (coming soon) Q- The low carb camp says low fat doesn't work and keeps you hungry all the time A- Not true, the problem is that many people try to starve themselves and only end up slowing down thier metabolism. Additionally severly restricting your calories will cause your body not only burn fat but muscle as well. and when you lose muscle YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO BURN CALORIES. This is why yo/yo dieters only get bigger everytime they fail. The proper way to do a low fat diet is to eat small meals frequently and watch the type of food you are eating. It is more than just counting calories. The contents of your food are just as important as the caloric value The carbs you should consume should be complex carbs. BEWARE OF DIET FOODS! Q- Complex carbs...what do you mean? and why does it matter? a carb is a carb right? A- Ok here is the scoop the low carb camp say that carbs cause insulin levels to spike, making you feel hungry all the time & frequently right after you have eaten. They are right...well sort of...Simple carbohydrates (READ- PROCESSED CARBS / SUGARS) do cause this spike in insulin levels not only making you feel hungry but also promoting the storage of fat (one of the nasty little jobs of insulin). THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH UNPROCESSED CARBS. Q-What do you mean BEWARE OF DIET FOODS? A- you must read labels! Just because a food says low fat / low calorie doesn't mean you automatically have a green light to eat it. More often than not Low Fat foods have a lot of sugars in them, or are made of processed flour. Its is very important to eat whole foods to avoid the infamous insulin spike |
