Better than Walthamstow, less exciting than Albania: a trip to Scandinavia

I think it's fair to say that Scandinavia had been bothering me. Not so much that I couldn't sleep, or else even wake up in a cold sweat screaming "oh no, I've never seen a proper fjord," but nonetheless I felt that it was about time I made a trip to the triple-headed serpent that guards the entry to the Baltic. I had been on a  day-trip to Helsinki once (from Estonia, as you do), but you can argue yourself into an early grave as to whether Finland is part of Scandinavia...

I suppose it's a fair point to make, now that I've skewed the map, but it does rather look as if Britain appears to be Scandinavia's back yard, which does rather account for all that Viking rape and pillage..it also makes Denmark Sweden & Norway seem less peripheral, at least to us, if not the rest of Europe. Is it therefore any accident that these three countries and the UK are the amongst the most Eurosceptic countries in our attitudes to the EU?

This trip would also put the pressure on a friend of mine: we are both seeking to visit every country in Europe: my total now stands at 37, two behind him. All very immature  and puerile, but there you go.
