Some people's lives start out in log cabins: they tend to become American Presidents; perhaps it's only chartered surveyors who end up buying them as holiday homes. Nonetheless, the Hartland Forest Golf and Leisure Parc in Devon
proved to be an excellent location to celebrate Dad's 60th birthday, although the weather did its best to enlarge the water hazard seen here by the 3rd green.

Here is the birthday boy on the day itself, just after he made a speech that I can safely say will be remembered for my  next sixty years, should I reach the age of 97.

Here he is again, with Mo, who, somewhat in the style of
This is your Life, had come all the way from America to be be there that night.
Here's the frankly indefagatible Auntie Viv, with Mo, and Leila looking faintly Gothic in this photo. Gill and Derek also seem to be having a good laugh: perhaps they've just read the headline of  copy of the Daily Mail on the table..
The day's celebrations culminated in a fine dinner at the club, where the cake made a suitably impressive entrance, and here's a shot of us all posing for about the 874th photograph of the evening...

And finally, here's some only slightly hung-over sisters and brothers-in-law the day after..... and some of the parc's resident ducks.
