Nobu Restaurant

Nobu is a restaurant created by Robert Di Nero and celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa. This project recently finished is located in the 5 star Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas, TX.

Here you can see the sushi bar and the sushi bar lanterns over head. The sushi bar lanterns were deemed a health issue by the health dept. and had to be modified incorporating a shroud around the tops thus preventing dust from being trapped above the food prep area. The late arriving sushi lanterns and the shroud were installed over Memorial day weekend requiring temporary scaffold over the bar and shut down of all sushi bar training. The shroud structure was design built by myself and successfully implemented just in time for the Grand Opening.

This is the main bar. The materials incorporated in the main bar are scorched ash, woven thatching imported from Bali, blackened metal and lots of lighting. The blackened metal on the columns are backlit with cold cathode and the panels below the bar are backlit with fluorescent. The bottle niches on the back bar are also backlit using fluorescent. The ceiling above is a Rulon wood ceiling attached with clips to an acoustical ceiling grid. This ceiling had to be installed and removed 2 times to get layout and install light fixtures, HVAC grills and trim out the ceiling.

Here you can see the dining room in preparation for the Grand Opening. The crowd outside in the background has gathered due to the arrival of Robert Di Nero. Notice the fabric hanging from the ceiling and the directional spot lights. The columns in the background are backlit using cold cathode. The floor is Douglas Fir end grain flooring. The walls in the background left are ash twigs and background right are river rocks painstakingly installed one by one.
