The Clubhouse Restaurant
Here is The Clubhouse Restaurant in South Coast Plaza, Costa
Mesa, CA owned by celebrity owners; Kevin Costner, Freddy Couples, Jack Nicklaus and Robert Wagner. This restaurant had two floors,
two kitchens on each floor, several private dining rooms, two patios, two bars
and a private banquette room. The entire structure was added on to the existing
mall under Phase I of the project followed by the interior build out and
construction of the façade in Phase II. The HVAC system incorporated a new air
handler and replacement and upgrade of a chilled water plant on the roof of the
mall.
This
picture shows the exterior facade work nearing completion with 6 hours to go
before the grand opening. You can see the final installation of caulking at the
GFRC, landscape installation, window cleaning and demobilization.
Here
is a picture of the elliptical bar stocking up for the Grand Opening. This bar
after it was installed by the millwork contractor was deemed by the owner to be
too high although installed per the design documents. The bar was built of Honduras
Mahogany and was glued and screwed together. I designed a lift system incorporating
aluminum beams, pallet jacks and metal band straps and lifted the entire bar in
the air, cut 6” off the bottom and dropped it back down.
This
is the Grand Stair nearing completion. This stair although built according to
the design documents, was deemed by the owners as too long and encroaching the
bar. Seven days previous to this picture, I brought in a Skytrack
material handler and lifted this stair, cut 3’ off the intermediate landing and
re-welded and installed the entire stair. The Skytrack
was brought in through the doors seen in the background of the picture.
