Becky's  Broken Heel
since Becky  had been unfortunate enough to loose one of her backless shoes  whilst coming home from work, she had got used to the security of  her ankle boots, they have a three inch heel and rounded toe, her boots are quite feminine with a thin sole and slim heel. Becky has recently spilt up from her partner and is bringing up her little boy single handed so she has been very strapped for cash.  Becky has been wearing her boots almost all the time,  to work and back during the day and out and about during the evenings and weekends, continuously for about four months, she loves her boots she  has become very attached to them and they are  her favourite  and almost her only footwear.  About a month ago Becky was walking home one night, there was drizzle in the air and the ground was wet, she stepped accidentally in to a small puddle, unaware that her left high heeled ankle boots sole had almost worn right through with all the wear that they have had, until she felt  that her left toe  become slightly damp. Once home Becky removed her favourite shoes and had a look at the sole, there was no visible holes but as she felt the sole near to where her wet toe had  been she almost pushed her finger through, the sole was that thin. Becky was relieved that her boots where  ok and she slipped them back on, and went off to the pub.
A few weeks later Becky  was getting  wet left toes whenever she wore her boots out in wet weather, one night she got home again from work with a wet foot, this time almost all her left toes were damp, she knew she couldn't afford a new pair of boots so she got a piece of cardboard from a cereal packet, cut it to size and slipped it in to the toe her boot, to cover the small hole which she could now see had formed in the sole. Becky checked her other boot, the sole was thin around the toe area but the shoe was not leaking. The next day Becky was working again. She was happier as she hadn't had wet feet for a whole day, during the afternoon Becky was being chatted up  by a fellow colleague at work,  she was enjoying the attention and  was balancing on her three inch heels putting all her weight on each heel in turn. Just then whilst all her weight was on her left boot the metal strip inside her boot which holds the heel in place snapped  and her heel became horizontal with the floor, startled Becky looked down at her  heel, swore and sat down, she unzipped her boot and removed it from her foot, she examined her heel to find that  it was no longer rigid and bent whichever way she pushed it. Becky replaced her boot on her foot and walked off annoyed. she now found that walking normally was difficult because if she put any weight on her left heel it just way.
The next day Becky  had work again, apart from her trainers she had no other shoes and she couldn't wear her trainers for work anyway, she slipped her boots on and carefully headed off to work, her broken heel had become bent at a 40 degree angle, and was loose and wobbly  but at least it was still attached
A few weeks later the make shift repair to her boots sole finally gave up to reveal a two inch hole In he sole of her left ankle boot, Becky continued to wear them getting wet feet almost every day, she could see her socks through the hole and she could feel the pavement, until one afternoon, by now she  was well  used  to avoiding puddles but as  she jumped to miss a really deep puddle , the heel of her boot broke completely off  as she landed and her whole boot or what was left of it went right into the puddle and  her boot  filled up with water, shit Becky  screamed , but to make things even worse, as she pushed down with her toes to avoid the water her foot came straight through the bottom of her boot which now had a hole big enough for four of her five toes to fall through. Becky  was really upset she was only half way home, and now she could not wear her boot., Becky removed her boot and put the heel and remains of the rest of her shoe in her bag and continued to walk home wearing just her remaining boot. Walking on tip toes on her bootless foot.
