Hello, we are Mike and Darcy. As you are facing this very difficult decision we are thankful that you are considering open adoption. We admire the love and courage you are showing, as you are deciding your child’s future. We are open to an ongoing relationship that is comfortable for you.

ABOUT US

We met through a mutual friend and found we really enjoyed each other’s company. After a few years of dating, we married and continue to love each other very much. We have an incredible daughter, Cherish. She is eight years old and only lives with us half of the time as she is from Mike’s previous marriage. We knew going into our marriage we would not be able to have biological children together and have decided OPEN ADOPTION is the right choice for us. We have so much love to share and are ready to have our family grow. Our family is very close and we cannot wait to share our love with another child.

MIKE, by Darcy—I fell in love with Mike because he is so compassionate, caring and patient. He is my best friend. He runs the dairy farm we own, which offers him great flexibility to come into the house quite often! I’m sure it will be even more often once we have a little one! Mike is a wonderful father and has more than enough love to give our next child. I love the look in his eye every time he holds Cherish. He is so excited about a new baby in our home. I dream of the day when I can see him walking across the yard hand-in-hand with our little one to go to the park, to see if the garden is growing or to play a game of hide-and-seek.

DARCY, by Mike—Darcy will be a great mother! She is very loving and caring to Cherish and I and will be to our next child. She has many projects around our home and always finds something for Cherish to do to feel important. She has a Master’s degree in nursing and enjoys working as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner in a busy Emergency Department. She’s ready, though, to take time off when a new baby arrives! She stole my heart from the day we met. Darcy is a wonderful person and I can’t wait to see her chasing our baby across the yard to the swing set, taking care of the first scrape on the knee, reading bedtime stories and singing lullabies.

About Cherish: Cherish loves school and really thinks riding the bus is great. She is finishing the third grade. She is our little helper and loves to go to the barn with her Dad. She really likes to talk! She is very excited about a new baby.

You have our support, understanding and admiration as you face this difficult decision. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and hear our story. We are very excited to hear from you. Darcy & Cherish going for a ride OUR HOME - We own a cozy farmhouse. There are five bedrooms upstairs and we cannot wait until we hear the pitter patter of little feet running from room to room. Our yard is several acres of grass, so there is plenty of room to run around, ride bikes, play ball or to just lounge around with an infant on a cozy blanket. Mike has built play equipment in the backyard. Our dog "Nalla" loves children. She is so excited whenever Cherish comes home. They like to cuddle together.

OUR COMMUNITY - We live is a rural community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The school system is excellent and provides a wonderful balance of academic and extracurricular activities for children. We believe it is essential to be involved in our child's education, by both volunteering at school and studying at home. Our child will have a blast playing on the wide range of equipment at the community park. There is something for every age and Cherish is excited to show her new brother or sister how everything works.

Cherish & Nalla playing in the snow. FAMILY & FRIENDS - Our family and friends are very excited about the possibility of a new member in our family. We see each other frequently and make a special effort to get together on birthdays and holidays. Both our parents live within forty-five minutes from us.

AS PARENTS - We look forward to watching our children grow and providing a foundation for a secure child. We look forward to going to the beach, teaching them to ride a bike and swim. We are even ready to be late to church because our little angel spit up everywhere!

INTERESTS & HOBBIES - We both enjoy hunting, snowmobiling, being outdoors and remodeling our home. Spending time with family and friends is also a vital part of our life. Darcy loves to mountain bike, roller blade and to go for long walks in the woods. Mike enjoys carpentry, tinkering with the tractors, and taking care of all of the animals. Cherish loves to be outdoors with us. We have a tag-a-long bike to pull her while bicycling. Cherish loves to go on hikes with Darcy and says she's a mountain climber every time we have to go over a rock. Mike had a special seat put into the tractor so Cherish could be belted in and she loves to be able to go with her Dad while he works. We both feel that another child would only add to the enjoyment we find in these activities.

We are ready for the change in our lives once we adopt! This is something that we've been dreaming about!
