Get permission before detecting on private land. Never Trespass. 
Make an agreement on sharing finds with the landowner to avoid later misunderstanding 
Report all of your finds to the landowner,including those that must be declared to the Coroner 
Close all gates, never walk through standing crops, and do not startle animals or nesting birds 
Fill in ALL holes regardless of wether land or beach. Never leave a mess or damage grass. BE TIDY 
Dispose of your unwanted finds and scrap properly. Never leave junk on site 
Never detect on scheduled archeological sites, without permission of the Secretary of State for National Heritage 
Report ALL Gold and Silver artefacts  over 300 yrs old to your local Coroner or the Police. Also any Hoards of coins or plate 
All Bombs, mines, ammunition or chemical container sites should be marked and reported to the police. Dont tamper with them 
Dont give the hobby a bad image. Be Friendly and help people if they ask. You might need help one day 
Remember if you dont follow a Voluntary code of conduct, you may well have one imposed on you by the Government !
