Ten Questions to ask when you are studying a chapter of the Bible

1)  Who are the principal persons in this chapter?
Simply list the names of the people who appear in the chapter.


2)  What does the chapter teach concerning Christ?
List all the things that we can learn about Christ.  Where the words, �God,� �Lord�� are used we can assume they are giving us descriptions of Christ unless the context makes it clear that they are referring to the Father or to the Holy Spirit.


3)  Is there, in this chapter, any example for me to follow?
Do you see anything in the chapter you need to imitate?


4)  Is there, in this chapter, any error for me to avoid?
What can I learn by someone else�s mistake?


5)  Is there, in this chapter, any duty for me to perform?
Am I instructed to do something?


6)  Is there, in this chapter, any promise for me to claim?
Does God give us his word that He will do something for us?


7)  Is there, in this chapter, any prayer for me to echo?
Does the writer pray or record someone�s prayer that might help us to have better prayers?


8)  What is the principal subject of this chapter?
Give a title to the chapter as if you were entitling a paper.  This should be one, two, or three words.


9)  What is the leading lesson of this chapter?
Determine what the writer is attempting to teach.  How does this apply to the reader?  As opposed to the principal subject, this should be a sentence.


10)  Which is the best verse in this chapter?
This verse should be a verse that supports the leading lesson you�ve picked.
