Meaningless Questions

Have you ever had someone ask you a meaningless question?  I am not saying that the question may not be interesting to think about, but no matter how one answers the questions it does not make a lot of difference.  I call these meaningless questions.

There is a group that goes around asking these types of meaningless questions.  Here are a few of them:
1) Was Jesus really born on Christmas Day25 December?  Now the question is interesting and this group is probably correct when they say Jesus wasnt born on 25 December.  But so what?  What difference does it make when He was born?  What matters is that He was born.  And the significant thing is that His birth is very different from the normal birth because when Jesus was born God became a man.  In 2 Timothy 3:16 the Bible says, God was manifest in the flesh
2) Another meaningless question some people like to ask is, Did Jesus die on a cross or on a stake?  Again our reply is, so what?  What difference does it make?  The essential matter is that He diedwhether on a cross or on a stake makes no difference.  He died.  But again we need to examine this death because this death was different from normal deaths, because He didnt die for himself; He died as a substitute for our sins.  Jn 1:29 says, Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world.  1 Co 15:3 says Christ died for our sins.
3) Another meaningless question often asked is, Did Jesus really rise on Easter Sunday?  What difference does it make whether or not we have the exact date of Jesus resurrection?  The Bible accurately records that He rose from the deadthats what matters.  And His rising from the dead is absolutely essential.  If He did not rise from the dead then there can be no salvation from our sins.  Ro 4:25 says, He was delivered [because of] our offences and was raised again [because of] our justification.  In other words God accepted Christs payment for our sins on the cross and He will accept no other payment.

Now let me ask you some truly meaningful questions from the Bible:
1) Jesus asked Peter, Who do you say that I am (Mt 16:15)?  Peter answers correctly; You are the Christ the Son of the living God.  Peter acknowledges that Jesus is both Saviour and God.
2) In the Old Testament, God asked Israel another meaningful question, Why will ye die?  He said this in Ezekiel 33:11.  Right before this question God said to Israel, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked.  God could say that to you today.  I have no pleasure in sending you to Hell.  Ive made a way for you to go to heaven.  I sent my Son to die for you.  Why will you die?
3) Another meaningful question is found in Acts 16:30.  There we read, What must I do to be saved?  The answer is in verse 31, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

I would ask you to personally consider these three meaningful questions. These are meaningful questions because the answers you give to them will effect your eternity.  If you are not sure how to answer these questions and dont know if you have personally placed your trust in Jesus Christ alone that He died on the cross was buried and rose again the third day, then I urge you to read over these verses.
