| "God does not comfort us to be comfortable, but to comfort others." |

| I just attended a water treating conference by Edge Outreach in Louisville Kentucky.
The water treating unit is simply amazing. It is very simple, but will treat up to 10,000 gallons per day of water. In the testing that we did in the class it had a 100% kill rate for all bacteria and other organic pathogens. I continue to conduct testing with the unit from the pond on my property and the technology works great. The operating cost for the unit is cup of salt per day and about six hours of sunshine to charge the battery with a solar charger that is included. The cost of the unit is $!,000 US plus the cost of two or maybe three 500 gallon tanks. We have purchased one unit for the orphanage and hope to purchase a second unit to serve the Jeremie guesthouse and to serve as a demonstration unit for others. If this water treating unit is successful, and I have every confidence that it will be, it can treat all of the water for the guesthouse and EMH will no longer need to purchase bottled water. It also has sufficient capacity to treat all the water used at the guesthouse so that the kitchen, bathroom sinks, showers and even the toilets may have pure water. It has sufficient capacity to treat more water than can ever be used at the guesthouse and could supply water for some kind of pure water distribution to church members or to the public. Water distribution would be a much larger endeavor but the technology would be available to support it. In order for the water treatment to work properly there needs to be someone in Haiti in charge of the operation. The training for this person(s) is simple and can be accomplished during my trip in March and during the installation at the orphanage. Please be thinking about who you might designate as the water manager so that we can properly train him/her in March. No particular technical skills are required but the person needs to detail oriented and able to keep some very simple records. I am looking forward to this next step in ministry to the Haitian people. IN HIS SERVICE Dave |
