"God does not comfort us to be comfortable, but to comfort others."

The Spring Hearts for Haiti trip to Jeremie was a booming success!

  First of all we had twenty one persons make the trip broken into three different teams over the first three weeks in March.  Team members consisted of a school teacher, a doctor, several nurses, a lawyer, a couple of college students, three high school students and a handful of retired folks.

Second, the construction work was successful.  We completed a porch across the front and down the west side of the building.  This should help beat the heat on hot afternoons.  We also dug and completed a cistern in preparation for supplying clean potable water for the kids. We also installed a chlorination system at the guest house.  It is working fine and now supplying clean water for teams.

As usual, we carried in more of our share of bags (over 50 fifty pound bags) taking clothes, shoes, tools, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

Third, we shared in many peripheral projects:
Including joint devotionals with the Haitian workers;

Assembling and delivering new church pews for the church at Chiraque;

Visiting schools and delivering beans and rice

And conducting six mobile medical clinics that saw 500 adults and vaccinated over 600 children,

Our plans now call for the Hearts for Haiti Team to return in August 2009 and March 2010.  The August trip will complete electrical and plumbing installation and pouring the concrete, hurricane proof roof before the hurricane season in the fall.  The March trip will be devoted to finishing the stucco, paint, furnishings and moving the kids into their new home.
