| The Runaway Mine Train is a firm favourite with all visitors to Alton Towers as it is a rollercoaster, but not an extreme one, and not a soft one! In my opinion this is more scary than Air, Nemesis or Oblivion, because of the many near misses! You sit down in what is literally a train styled coaster car, and it has a launched start and then takes you on a rough ride around the Katanga Kanyon area of Alton Towers. You can literally hit your hands on the overhead bars if you try, and as you whizz round the track quite quick, you reach a bit of a tunnel with a huge rock just by the entrance which you speed right past! Then as you go through the tunnel you can often see the people on the rapids going in the opposite direction! You go around the circuit twice usually! Overall - 6/10 - It's good, but it is not that good! |
