Ethan knew even before Justin finished unpacking the computer that this relationship wouldn't last.

He knew it in the way Justin's eyes never quite met his when they touched.

He knew it in the all too brief kisses that came further and further apart.

He knew from the way Justin would snap his sketchbook shut when he neared, and when Justin would come up with excuses to be near Liberty at certain times of the day.

But, most of all, he knew because Justin never stopped loving Brian; he knew was just a means to and end even if Justin didn't realize that yet.

Ethan accepted all this because Justin was unlike anyone he'd ever known.
