About George Lucas
Do you know The Star Wars Series?
Do you know George Lucas?
Do you know George Lucas wanted to be an auto racer at first?
George Lucas is a one of the most famous directors in the world. He has directed The Star Wars Series since 1977. He wrote some movies of stories of The Indiana Jones Series. He was born May 14th, 1944, in Modesto, California. His real name is George Walton Lucas Jr. His works are THX 1138 (1971), American Graffiti (1973), Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Kagemusha (1980), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Return of the Jedi (1983), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Labyrinth (1986), Willow (1988), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Star Wars : Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) and Star Wars : Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002).
At first he wanted to be a professional auto racer. He was interested in cars very much. He drove a car everyday and appeared on the stage many times. He really wanted to be a professional auto racer. One day he had a serious car accident and he hovered between life and death. Then he gave up his first dream. He entered The University of Southern California's famed film school program. At this time he made "THX 1138" as his assignment, which one won a victory at All-American Student Movies Festival!
He worked under Francis Ford Coppola. He learned a lot of things about how to make movies. He remade "THX 1138" under him and this time was his debut in the major movie business world.
The success of "THX 1138" brought Lucas to the attention of The Universal Studios. Therefore he could to make "American Graffiti" there. This movie was born from experience of teenager George Lucas. "American Graffiti" was the biggest hit in The Universal Studios history. 1970's people thought "success movie has more than $1,000,000 earnings". But American Graffiti had a big profit beyond $1,000,000! George Lucas said "It's just  lucky!!".
However his utterance is not the truth, "The Star Wars" more successful.!! Just "The Star Wars" (not The Star Wars Series) made profits $797,900,000!!! The Star Wars Series continue now (2002, July). George Lucas was affected by Akira Kurosawa (he is a one of the most famous Japanese directors). George Lucas created The Star Wars Series for children. The Star Wars Series tells of love, courage, reliance, hope, dream and so on.
George Lucas created Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, R2-D2, Han Solo, 3PO, Jedi (they are character of The Star Wars Series), force (this is the power of spirit), love, courage, reliance, hope, dream and so on. To make films is@the same as to make dreams!!!
