Chapter Thirteen
It's the next morning and Luis told her that the problem with her was that needed her appendix taken out. "Let me talk to that quack right now!" Sher screamed.
"Calm down, I'll get him." Luis said and came back a second later with the doctor.
"Yes, Ms. Crane?" He said looking at his chart nervously.
"I need to talk to you alone, I'm sorry, Luis. Just for a little." She said softly to him.
"No problem. I'll be right outside." Luis left and Sher turned to the doctor.
"What the hell did you do to my baby?!" Sher yelled at the doctor.
"Ms. Crane, you have been talking about your supposed baby since yesterday. From my chart, you are still in mid-menstruation period. We did a sonogram and all the necessary tests, you are not nor have you been pregnant."
"How can that be? I'm almost two months in!" She exclaimed.
"Ma'am, I think you're still disoriented from the pain killers and what happened yesterday." Sher's memory flooded back to her of the night before.
"Oh, Lord, Luis must think I'm crazy..."
"Miss, you were under some serious medical drugs. He understands your actions and he was by your side the whole time."
"Yes, he is a very kind man. Thank you, doctor. Will you please let me be by myself for awhile."
"Of course, I'll tell Officer Lopez~Fitzgerald that you will need a few minutes to compose yourself. You can check out today, but I recommend you take it easy." The doctor left and Sher immediately took out her radio.
"Guys! You there? Tree, Kat, come in!"
"We're here. Tree quit snoring, Sher's calling. What is it, Sher?" Kat asked.
"My baby! It's gone!"
"Oh, crap. Okay, where are you?" Tree was wide awake now.
"I'm at the hospital, I got my appendix taken out. Man, they're gonna be surprised when we get home and I don't have an appendix."
"Don't be so sure. Look, Luis is there, right? Get him to drive you to the Bennett's house, amd pick up Ethan and Ivy, but no one else. Do not let anyone else know where you're going. Tree go talk to Miguel and tell him to pick up Simone. I'll call Reese and we will get set up. Sher, I would explain what's going on, but we don't have time. You get to the Bennett's house now, do not come without Ivy and Ethan. Take care of yourself."
"Okay, check. We'll be there in 20, bye." Sher clicked off her walkie-talkie and got dressed. She left the room and turned to Luis. "Come on, Luis. We got errands to run."

Kat and Tree walked in through the back door into the kitchen. Sam and Grace were in there. "Hi, Dad. Hi, Mom." She hugged them both.
"Hey, Kay. Have a good time at Theresa's?" Sam asked her.
"Yes, we had so much fun. We stayed up all night reading books from the library." Tree interjected pouring on sweetness.
"What kind of books, guys? Were they those trashy romance novels where Dirk takes Wanda in his arms?" Grace asked with a mocking tone in her voice.
Kat just laughed with traces of evil and smugness in her laughter. "Oh, Mom. You know I would never check those books out of the library. What else would be left for you to read?"
"Kay, you're so funny. I just..." She sneered and then smiled quickly. "I just love to josh with you."
"Mom, you are the hilarious one. I mean, that outfit alone is the funniest thing I've seen all day. Your haircut keeps me laughing whenever I look at you." She smiled and hugged her. "Oh, Mom!" She hugged her tighter cutting off Grace's air supply. "You are just so SO funny."
"Kay, stop hugging me!" Grace screamed.
"Grace! You are the one who says that our daughter does not treat you well enough and now that she is, you want her to stop hugging you?!" Sam half-yelled at his wife.
"I'm sorry, dear. Why don't you go up stairs and talk to Charity?" Grace politely suggested to Kat.
"I can't right now, Mom. I need Dad's help. Daddy, come with me into the living room. I need to talk to you about something that's going on in school." Kat led him out of the room and Tree pulled a thick wooden stick out of her book bag.
"Alright, Gracie. Move away from the sharp objects."
"Why, whatever are you talking about, Threesa?" Grace looked at Tree's hand and backed up. "What have you got there?" She plastered a smile on her face.
"Oh, just a large piece of oak, wrapped in poison ivy and hemlock. It also has some of your hair attached to it." Tree smiled largely. "Now, come on. Sit down at the table and let's have a little chat."
Grace's eyes clouded over for a second before turning into a happy blue. "Theresa, I don't have time to talk right now, dear. Would you like some pancakes?" Tree got close to her with the stick, Grace hissed and backed up. "Just put it down. I can do things for you... make your wildest dreams come true."
"I don't want your help. I want my life back, witchy. You and the Witches Stand, Standish witches, can't rule over us anymore." Tree pointed the wand at Grace and got close enough until she fell back into a chair.
"You know, a little stick will not protect you forever, child. Why are you doing this to me?" Grace asked, letting the fire start to glow in her eyes.
"I can answer that, Mom." Kat walked into the room. "We're doing this for the simple reasoning of, 'Like mother, like daughter.' " She said with spite in her voice, then smiled, her lips curling up at the sides. Moving her hands in a sweeping motion, the ivy surrounding the oak stick floated over and wrapped Grace to the oak chair that Kat had snuck into the house last night. "Sit tight now, I have to get ready for company!" She lightly patted Grace's face and walked into the living room.
