Chapter Ten

Kat entered the busy house. Everyone was home, including THOSE two bitches. Putting a big smile on her face, she walked into the kitchen.

"Hi, everyone." She hugged Jessica and her father.

"Hi, Kay. Is there news on Chad?" Charity asked.

Kat scrutinized Charity. "No, I hope he'll be all right soon. He'll be in my prayers." Jessica was too flabbergasted by the hug she received to roll her eyes at Kat's sweetness, which was actually natural this time.

"Mine, too. It's a shame that he has no family to be there for him, but at least his friends stay by his side." Grace entered the conversation and took Sam's hand in hers. "Come on, you guys. I made a great dinner. Let's eat."

The family sat down and Kat looked up. "Mom, Dad, I need to apologize for the way I acted yesterday. Sheridan brought some tea herbs back from Europe and it made both me and Theresa quite a bit delirious. I don't think I'll ever have another glass of tea again. Mom, this food is so delicious." She smiled and stuffed the dry, tasteless chicken down her throat.

"Thank you, Kay. You are being so nice today." Grace interjected.

"I love the food as well, Aunt Grace." Charity said quickly, her sweetness being outdone by Kat.

"Thank you, Charity. You are such a sweet and polite girl." Grace held Charity's shoulder then went back to eating.

"Mom, Dad, Theresa invited me over to her house tonight. May I please spend the night?" Kat asked, her voice pouring with sickening niceness.

"I don't-"

"Sure, honey." Sam answered before Grace could object.

"I'm going to go get my stuff and head on over. Thank you so much, Dad." She hugged him warmly. "Mother." She ran upstairs to her room, but found Charity's belongings in it. "God, she's such a witch..." Before leaving the room, she pocketed Charity's hairbrush and went to pack her things... "Not this time, girly, not this time."

Tree went up to Whitney who was outside of Chad's room. Eve Russell was inside checking on him after he had woken up . "Hey, Whit.. I'm sorry for our fight yesterday. I didn't know about Chad..."

"It's okay, honey. I was just shaken up... me and Chad kissed... really kissed.. twice." Whitney smiled faintly.

"That's really great, Whit. Are you and Chad together?" She asked hoping that she wouldn't have to worry about matching up anymore people then she already had to think about.

"I don't know, Theresa... I mean, we're just too different. My mom has finally said we can be friends because he saved my life, but just friends. When he woke up just now, he kissed me. I just don't know. I'm really confused and... " She covered her mouth to cover a sob. "What, what if he gets hurt again with me. I mean, he almost died saving my life..." Tree hugged her, happy that ANY Whitney was finally talking to her.

"I think you and Chad need to have a talk, Whit. Wait till your mom leaves and you should tell him how you're feeling so maybe you can work something out, maybe he's feeling the same way." Whitney nodded and took a sip of her cappucino that she had been nursing since that morning.

"Thanks, honey. What were you doing talking to Kay earlier though? I mean, after she blew me in about the cabin, I thought that you and I decided not to talk to her."

"Well, she was having problems with her family and I saw her in the park... We just struck up a conversation." Tree lied through her teeth. She was getting better at it ever since they got here.

"Oh, okay."

Eve came over to the teens and pulled Whitney's attention to her. "You can go and visit him now, girls. Whitney, I have to do my rounds and another doctor is going to be put in charge of Chad. Can you get yourself home? I'm going to be here for a few more hours."

"Yeah, Mom. I'll get Dad to come and pick me up or walk home." She smiled secretly to Tree as her mother walked off.

"I'm going, call me later, girl."

"You know it." Whitney said as she went into the door with a thumbs up to Tree.

Sher doubled over in pain and started moaning. Luis yelled for a doctor.

Two orderlies came running over and put her up on a stretcher.

"Don't leave me, Luis!!! DON'T LEAVE ME!!" Sher tried to sit up in the stretcher but the orderlies pushed her down into a laying position and started pulling her towards the emergency room.

"I'm right here, Sheridan..." Luis held onto her hand and ran with them the whole way.

"Sir, we need you out of here. Sir, you have to leave! We will call security, sir!" The orderlies tried to push him away.

"Okay, number one, I am a cop. Officer Lopez~ Fitzgerald." He flashed his badge with his free hand. "Secondly, I know I'm not allowed to be in here but she obviously wants me in here because she won't let go of my hand... " He motioned to his hand being held with a death-grip by the groaning Sheridan.

"HE IS STAYING RIGHT HERE, GOD DAMN IT!!! YOU PUT SOME SCRUBS ON HIM OR SOMETHING BUT I SAY HE IS STAYING HERE!!! HE DID THIS TO ME SO HE HAS TO STAY HERE!!" She yelled in agony.

"But, Ms.-" The doctor began.

"Ms. Sheridan Crane!!! We own the bank and we practically own the hospital so you better listen to me or you are going to be out on the streets before you could say 'malpractice suit'" She held her side in pain.

"Stay right here, Officer." The doctor began to shake after getting worried. "I can't take this right now. Nurse, please take care of Ms. Crane while I steady myself."

"Yes, doctor."

"That's right, Mister Ph. D! Run off now!" She looked at Luis as the excruciating pain subsided for a second. "Whatever I say, it's not your fault... Don't listen to me..."

He put a finger up to her mouth to silence her. "Anger is a great way to release. Go with it. Besides, I always have fun during our arguments."

"Thank you for being here for me... But please, tell them not to hurt my baby..." Sher then started screaming in torment again.
