Olympia's   Postcards
München,  Germany

The Olympiastadion in Munich was built for the 1972 Olympic Games and opened on May 26.   It was also venue of the FIFA World Cup in 1974.   Besides, it hosted three European Cup finals in 1979, 1993 and 1997; won there by three different teams: Nottingham Forest (England), Olympique Marsella (France) and Borussia Dortmund (Germany).

The stadium has an architectural modern trend with an impressive transparent roof from plexiglass, that protects spectators from the rain and allows the sunlight to reach the grass;  and today, more than 25 years later, has lost nothing from its fascination.

It is the home stadium of FC Bayern München and TSV München 1860, and with a capacity of 63,000 spectators was classified after a European-wide check of the stages as only German arena under the highest category.
