Nou  Camp's   Postcards
Barcelona,  Spain

This stadium was inaugurated on September 24, 1957  and now it's a source of pride to Barcelona's supporters, not only because of the size of the stadium, but also due to the architectural design.   Nou Camp is the largest stadium in Europe with a capacity of 98,000 and many modern facilities.   It's so well regarded that UEFA gave it a five-star rating, a category reserved for the very few.

Originally, held 90,000 spectators but capacity was increased to 120,000 for the 1982 World Cup in Spain.   Recently the stadium capacity was cut in order to comply with FIFA regulations.   The ground circumference was reduced by three meters and the terraces were eliminated.

Nou Camp has seen two finals of European Cup.   The first was played on May 24, 1989  and Milan beat Steaua Bucarest (4-0).   Ten years later (5.26.99) Manchester United won the Champions League in an exciting match against Bayern Munich (3-2).   This stadium was also the venue of the World Cup Soccer'82 Opening Ceremony and the final of the Olympic Soccer Tournament in 1992.
