Cory is a frustration to OFWs
"Is Corazon Aquino condoning the crimes committed
by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to help keep her in power?"
Thus queried Migrante Sectoral Party chairperson Connie
Bragas-Regalado on the recent actions and statements
of former President Corazon Aquino - called Cory by
overseas Filipino workers and the public.
"Aquino is not qualified to advice Susan Roces
on 'sticking to the Constitution' and the so-called
'rule of law.' Cory did not file an electoral protest
to legally prove that she had been cheated by the dictator
Marcos. Cory only became president in 1986 via the successful
democratic mass actions of the sovereign Filipino people
who ousted Marcos from power," Migrante's Bragas-Regalado
said.
"Cory is technically saying that the people must
'simply condone the high crimes of Arroyo because impeachment
proceedings cannot succeed against her and the constitutional
successor, Vice President Noli de Castro also benefitted
from massive election fraud. This makes Cory a frustration
to OFWs and the people," Bragas-Regalado said.
Migrante also said that "Macapagal-Arroyo violated
Article XI of the Constitution which states that "Public
officers and employees must, at all times, be accountable
to the people, serve them with utmost responsibility,
integrity, loyalty, and efficiency; act with patriotism
and justice, and lead modest lives."
"She also violated Article II or the Declaration
of Principles and State Policies that states that "the
State shall maintain honesty and integrity in the public
service and implements a policy of full public disclosure
of all its transactions involving public interest,"
she added.
Migrante pledged to actively participate in the widening
movement to oust the Macapagal-Arroyo regime.
"We shall pursue our campaign to temporarily withhold
remittances through formal banking channels - (such
as PNB) until Gloria resigns," Bragas-Regalado
ended. #
