Truth
commission will exonerate Gloria and her crimes
"This
'Truth commission' by and for Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
is a devious attempt to keep the waning support of the
Catholic bishops and to subvert the Constitution."
Thus declared
MIGRANTE Sectoral Party Chairperson Connie Bragas-Regalado
on Pres. Macapagal-Arroyo's initiative to create a commission
or similar body to look into the truth behind the issues
recently raised against her leadership.
"We
agree with the legal experts who have voiced their opposition
to this 'truth commission.' Aside from the nature of
this Gloria initiative that is downright illegal and
dilatory, this is viewed by Migrante as another effort
to buy time and prolong the worsening economic and political
agony of our nation," Bragas-Regalado said.
Migrante
is also among an increasing number of groups that is
supporting the moves to impeach Macapagal-Arroyo "as
one of the means to oust the illegitimate president
and help bring in a transition council to address various
anti-OFW and anti-people policies that have worsened
under the current administration."
"We
cannot accept the formation of a commission or body
by the person who is at the center of the political
mess engulfing the country. It has the all the ingredients
of a cover up in the making. This is clearly an attempt
to divert the pressure from her embattled position.
Macapagal-Arroyo must end the country's problems by
stepping down so that the important and meaningful reforms
for OFWs, their families and the people in general can
be pursued," Bragas-Regalado said. #
