Another week and another loss. The Jackson Jailbirds got back to their losing ways on Sunday. After surprising the Storm last week and coming up with a win, the Jackson Jailbirds got back to lossing again this week. This time the loss came at the hands of the El Paso Tumbleweeds, 22-13. The Jailbirds could get no running game against the defensive line of the Tumbleweeds. Without the run game the Jailbirds pass game was shut down to below average and probably is what caused the Jailbirds to lose. RB Derek Bryant was only able to accumulate 17 yards and 1 TD. Even with only having 17 yards he managed to find the end zone once. Jailbirds leading WR Crispin Peterson caught 70 yards and had his second touchdown of the year. Ryan Hall, Sam Prewall, and Bill Wicker, were all held down to below average weeks and none could find the endzone. RB Joe Somebody caught fire, and was held just short of 100 yards. He also found the endzone once. The Tumbleweeds passing game was held even lower than the Jailbirds and was held to only 173 yards. QB Pete Jones was never able to get comfortable in the pocket and was sacked 4 times. Twice by rookie DE Oppie Tillman. QB Manny Rodriguez had all the time in the world to pass the ball, and was only sacked once. The story of the game was defense, the Jailbirds went 2/10 on 3rd down conversions, while the Tumbleweeds faired a little better going 3/8. Both teams were able to get an interception a piece. Although the Jailbirds lost they still managed to outgain the Tumbleweeds 270-268. "We went out and tried our hardest. We were looking to take two straight for the first time this season, but it didn't happen. Oh well, congrats to the T-Weeds, we will just have to work harder again this week." Owner of the Jailbirds Jack Bullion said about the game.
In other news, the Pittsburgh Devils won their second straight game and second game of the season this past week 28-24 over the Ramblers.
