The Brunel House - with
droppable gable & roof garden sections
Lot 10
PLEASE NOTE: This zip does not contain any objects, walls or floors. You will need to download, unzip and install all the object, wall& floor zips from below before playing this house, otherwise you will get the dreaded "missing objects" box and the house will be incomplete - and may even crash your game.
Please note that not all the objects below were placed in the house before I zipped it up, as I add things from time to time :o)
Named for the great Victorian engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the Brunel Theme has been siminised from photographs of industrial Victorian brick and ironwork. The actual house will vary in some slight detail from the screenshots which I took before making some modifications. I think you'll still like it though.
Two Arch Gable pieces! These look good when used with the Brunel Arch
to create an arched walkway. And you never need bother watering the ferns
either :o) Thanks to the awesome talent of Cooptwin The Amazing
And Magnificent, these three-tiled arch gable pieces are droppable - you won't
see them when played with walls cutaway or down. See more of Cooptwin's work
at Another #%*& Sim Site http://www.angelfire.com/retro/vinylp_ants/Stuff.html
More single tiled trees for your hillsides! The hillside trees are cloned
from a one-tiled topiary, and can therefore go on slopes! Note
though that they may well bleed through walls if placed too close. I
also fixed the two original Hillside Pine trees to get rid of the yellow bits,
so you should redownload and replace them. The file names are the same, so they
should over-write the yellowybit ones =:o Each zip contains
the two trees pictured.
Hillside Rowan pack
I'm
not sure whether I like these or not. I took the pictures from my own rowan
(Mountain Ash) tree and tried to siminise it as best as possible. The berries
are so beautiful this time of year, but sadly my siminised versions just look
splodgy to me.
Hillside Walnut & Winter walnut pack
I'm not sure whether I like the leafy version or not. I took the pictures of
leaves from my own walnut tree and tried to siminise it as best as possible.
Real walnut trees spread out far more than these, but game limitations wouldn't
allow a one tile tree to be so big.
Illuminated clock, medium low topiary Wall recess with plant, wall recess with bronze of Brunel, iron fence (rug)
The single tiled fence rug was an original idea by STP Carly at the immortal Sims Tattoo Parlour http://perso.wanadoo.fr/savuka/carly and was cloned with her kind permission. It is ideal for indoors as well, as it lets the sunlight through. Try selling it after midnight and see what delights it brings!
Outdoor / Indoor / Second floor trees with fairy lights. These will require the Party Lights fence download from the official site. Find it under Build mode / Walls. I have fixed these trees to get rid of the yellow bits so if the old ones really annoy you, overwrite them with these new versions.
Droppable
outdoor / indoor / second floor two trees in brick planters
Again, I have fixed these trees to get rid of the yellow bits so if the old
ones really annoy you, overwrite them with the new versions.
Three sizes of topiaries and planters. None of these ever need watering and can be placed indoors or on a second floor to make a secluded roof garden.
Low
pieces
Thanks
to the awesome talent of Cooptwin The Amazing And Magnificent, the medium and
high topiary & planter pieces are droppable - you won't see them when played
with walls cutaway or down. See more of Cooptwin's work at Another #%*&

Decorative
steps, platform
roof, wall buttress
Please
note that the sims cannot walk on or through the steps.
For the best effect, the platform roof should be placed on the transparent tile available from Caro's Sim Kagen http://www.goinkyo.jp/sims/view2.asp?v1=floors&v2=special The lamps have been recoloured from ones by SecretSims http://www.secretsims.com/ and the wall buttress base object is by Marina's Sims http://rt000wy8.eresmas.net/objects/objects.htm Idea credit for decorative steps to Simzalabim http://home.online.no/~goban/

Droppable Big window, small arrow-slit window & brick framed black door.
I am greatly indebted to the numerous
people who sent me droppable versions of the windows and doors! I had so many
volunteers, I honestly cannot now remember whose zips I actually used - but
my heartfelt thanks go to you all. There is no way I would have figured out
how to do this by myself. I will one day.
Door no-gap base by Aenigma Sim http://www.strategyplanet.com/thesims/aenigma/index3.shtml
Pluto brick & iron Arch,
glass end piece and roof
The roof
pieces go on the second floor, and should be placed on the transparent tile
available from Caro's Sim Kagen http://www.goinkyo.jp/sims/view2.asp?v1=floors&v2=special
The
glass end piece & roof were recoloured with kind permission from Koromo,
at the magnificent Persimmon Grove http://members.lycos.co.uk/persimmongrove/
Animated
furnace, two recessed bookcases, toilet stall
Furnace base object by Simzalabim http://home.online.no/~goban/ originally cloned from an animated wall lamp. Please note that the Recessed Bookcases are best seen at near view. Thanks to my not getting the Z Buffer thing at all, it was a choice of having them bleed through the walls or come away from the wall at far zooms. If anyone can fix them, please let me know and I will update the zip accordingly! The toilet stall will require the Maxis Potty Pack from the official site.
6
reversible Railway posters, decorative wall recess
Reversible means that from whatever angle you are looking at
them from, the words are the right way round! All
cloned from an original base by pktechgirl at the lovely http://www.junipersun.org

Roof section for over arched
walkway with wooden detail, mock basement, glass "roof" ![]()
Gable roof idea credit to Ophelia http://www.oph3lia.com/index2.html The "basement" is actually a rug, and if you don't put a fence around it, the sims will happily walk all over it. Alternatively, it goes very nicely underneath an exising staircase. I have been asking around many object makers for months now to make me various basement rugs, and at last to their utmost relief, I can now make my own!
Glass roof recoloured with kind permission from Koromo, at Persimmon Grove http://members.lycos.co.uk/persimmongrove/ To get the square frame effect I did in the middle picture, I used two roofs placed on top of each other but one rotated to give the glass a frame on all four sides.
The largest roof segment comes with and without windows. You can place these in any way you like to give the effect of a multi-storey building. Idea credit to Ophelia http://www.oph3lia.com/index2.html - although I have modified mine somewhat so that they have all four views and can be placed against walls at any rotation. And thanks to Cooptwin, they are now droppable so that when you play the game in walls down or cutaway modes, they become invisible!
Five
mix 'n' match wall treatments, floor tile, roof tile ![]()
This one zip contains all the walls, the floor and the roof. Unzip to a temporary storage folder, and move the files ending in
If you would like to redesign or recolor objects from the Brunel set, please provide credit on your site and in the object description with a link back to us. Most recolours here are from base items from sites participating in the Recolourers Resource Project, but where I have had specific permission for an item to be cloned for this set, you will need to ask the same permissions from the original designer - these are as follows:
Glass Roof kits from Koromo, at Persimmon Grove http://members.lycos.co.uk/persimmongrove/
All links to the original site where I have made the recolour from are given. See notes on home page.
