Words of a Dad

From Kenneth R. Beck, 2002

Proverbs teaches us that the beginning of wisdom is the knowledge of God, and that a man is valued by what others say of him. Our most worthy ambition is the search for wisdom and knowledge, or to put it simply: learning. Then, to teach what we have learned is our most noble occupation; yet the best, most strict, upright teacher is the Lord who provides the experience necessary for the heart of a person, and he will give the lesson until it is learned and understood by His student. He leaves no day in our lives without a lesson.

No one knows what a day may bring but The Lord Jesus taught, sufficient to the day is the evil thereof, and be anxious for nothing but with prayer and supplication make your request known to Godand remember that He shows no one partiality. Even though He may show special affection for each one of us, God doesnt have favorites among people but answers according to the heart of a person. So always guard your heart and mind from the evils of selfishness and pride.

Love is what you do, not what you say, because words mean nothing without action. So regard others as equal or better than yourself: this is pure love and understanding. You see, when we realize that no one is without sin or wrong doing toward God and men, then we begin to understand what it means to forgive and discover we are truly equal with everyone, capable of all kinds of evil. Because of the ability to do such evil, we realize the need for a moral standardso God gave His commands and statutes. Never mistake emotions for love: emotions change with every situation and will cause us to make foolish decisions. The person who does this is wavering, unsure, lacks confidence, and lives in fear. True love is putting yourself aside for the sake of others, and true forgiveness is the evidence of Godly love and understanding that will mend and nurture relationships.

As the preacher has said, There is a time and season for everything done under the sun. So there is a reason for everything, but nothing is about us; it is all about Christ Jesus, the Creator and giver of life. We were created for His pleasure, not ours, and we would do well to live to that end. So never think more of yourself than you should, because only you and the Lord know the truth about you. Only one mistake will reveal that truth to the world and brand you a fool. Honesty with God, with yourself, and with fellow mankind is always best, and will save you a multitude of heartache.

Fear, that demon that haunts all of us throughout our lives, is simply being unsure, lacking confidence. True faith is confidence in God and removes all fear. The lessons of The Master Teacher provide assurance of our faith and who we are in Him. Therefore, have confidence before the throne of Jesus Christ, knowing that he hears the prayer of the heart of those who believe in Him. He is the comforter and provider of our life and faith. Knowledge through experience builds confidence, trust, and security of heart and mind. The Apostle Paul wrote Be content whatever state youre in knowing that the trial of your patience produces character. God will allow us to experience many things but warns that there are consequences that come from all decisions. Foolish decisions produce troubles and distractions from the way of truthand all too often, death; but wise, well-thought decisions produce life, security, and peace.

These are a few of the many things that God has taught me, proving in my life that, All things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. I endeavor to teach my children the same, for God has made me a king, a priest, a teacher, a father, and a husband, all summed up in one word,

Dad
