| A midwife, literally translated, is a woman who is "with woman"...a woman who sits beside, stands behind, and walks together with other women through the joys and struggles of bearing and raising children. Such a woman seems always to just "be there". She might attend a birth in an official capacity as a professional caregiver...she may gently soothe a laboring mother with kind words and a stress-relieving backrub...she may even wash the dishes, fold the laundry, and read bedtime stories to other children awaiting the arrival of a new sibling. Such a woman plays a vital role in the life of any woman she serves. Such a woman fills a gap that a loving woman seems best suited to fill. Such a woman brings life, peace, confidence, and strength to the women and families she serves. Such a woman is a midwife at heart. This site is dedicated to all such women in honor of all that they do. |
