Episode 53: Scene Four
"Aw, Chris. Don't go getting all paranoid on me. We have so much to look forward to, man. The Beach Blast is about to start, and we'll have so much fun watching Amber squeal when she loses the contest again this year," Shannon smiled deviously, putting an arm around her best friend's shoulders.
"Ooh, do you think she will? You remember what happened last year, don't you?"
Shannon guffawed. "Who could forget? Amber is the American psycho. But how are you going to know if you're stuck here during the entire carnival?"
"It's not my decision to make, Shannon. I have to be here through every little detail of the case. This has given true meaning to the word 'boredom.' But will you tell everyone that I hope they have a great time?"
"Pssh," Shannon brushed away Christian's thoughts with a wave of her hand. "They already know. Everyone's rooting for you, Christian. They're all on your side."
Christian sighed and placed his chin on his hands. "That'd be great...if I only knew which side I was on."
"Well, which one do you want to live with?"
"Neither!" Christian spat. "I'd rather live in a grass hut with a hundred people than to live with either one of them."
"Man, then this must really suck."
"You're darn right it sucks! It's a lose-lose situation."
"What about your sister?"
Christian looked away from Shannon, attempting to hide the emotion that had suddenly sprung into his face. "I can't leave her with them," he said, his hand muffling his voice to hide the sadness.
"So who would you rather her be with?"
"I don't know, Shannon!" Christian jumped to his feet and began walking quickly away from Shannon. "I don't know and I don't care!"
