BLACKBERRY

Love is the bittersweet

taste of blackberries.

Sharp flavor first stings

like a slap,

like realization,

like truth.

Then sweetness fills

the mouth with heaviness,

like a kiss,

like passion,

like the light

of a blackberry moon,

her silver breath

finding us picking

the bittersweet fruit,

the thorns pricking

our red hands.
