    HOW TO WRITE ABOUT NATURE
    By Allen Hope

In the words of William Faulkner

    there is no mechanical way

    to get the writing done

    no shortcut

    no trade secret

but this does not prevent me

    from dressing leaves in words—

    one word per leaf—

so that when the leaves die

I will write of their death

in the order of their dying.
