DEAD MAN'S ELEVEN
First Broadcast: September 12, 1999
| Tom and Joyce are looking for a new home. To Barnaby's displeasure, Joyce has found a house in the Midsomer village of Fletcher's Cross. On their way to meeting the Coopers, who are in need of selling their home and moving away, they pass the cricket green where the match and players are all heated up. |
| Unpopular
landowner, Robert Cavendish, owns the manor house in the village and has
a young wife. His son, Stephen, owns a business but often relies on his
father to make sure his work keeps going on well. Although he is married
to cake-eating Jane, he is having an affair with a barmaid from The
Queen's Arms Pub. That evening, during Robert's birthday, he and wife Tara announce that they are interested in moving away to Orlando. Unfortunately for Jane and Stephen, their house is part of the manor and Robert moving away could mean that they must find a new home. |
| The
following day, Tara disappears after taking the dog for a walk. After
being reported missing, her body is found at the old quarry on the edge
of the village. It seems she was battered to death with a cricket bat. Barnaby and Troy have a tough time finding enemies for the woman, but instead learn old stories about the possibility of the quarry being cursed. A young husband/father who was caught in an explosion there and the Cavendish's previous housekeeper who may have been pushed into the quarry might be connected to the latest death!
