BLOOD WILL OUT
First Broadcast: September 19, 1999
| Barnaby
and Troy are called in to help keep the peace in the village Martyr
Warren when, to the extreme anger of Falklands veteran Major Hector
Bridges, two rival clans of travellers arrive. Bridges is not at all popular with the villagers: his previous wife, Muriel, married local Will Saxby, and his ex-wife Jenny married Hector, moving in with daughter Fleur, for money and a glamorous life. Hector cannot stand Fleur, and she claims to her father, Will, that she was assaulted by him at a younger age. |
| Barnaby
and Troy are first called in to solve a wild goose chase! Hector
complains that a goose has gone missing - coincidentally, seeing as his
arch-enemy Orville Tudway appeared in Martyr Warren the day before.
Barnaby is sure there is anything there for them. They warn Orville to
stay away from Hector. During a horse race with the travellers, Hector is shot dead in his chest and left for dead in his huge manor house. Muriel finds the body after hearing the loud shot. According to wife Jenny, a wine cooler has gone missing, but Barnaby is far from convinced that theft is the motive. |
| Other
suspects suddenly pop out from everywhere. Shop owner Peter Fairfax,
who's wife was killed in a car crash when Hector was driving could be
responsible. There is also Hector's wife Jenny, who hated the man but
loved the house, or Fleur's father, Will, who cannot forgive Hector ever
since she claims to have been assaulted. Then there is a second death among the travellers.
