| Jersey is the most southerly of the Channel Islands and boasts miles of sandy beaches and secluded coves. Only 9 miles by 5, it doesnt take too long to discover all the amenities of this varied little island. Castles, Museums, lush green valley's and its own Zoo are just some of its many attractions. The Channel Islands were occupied by German Forces throughout the second world war and were turned into an impregnable fortress, today the reamains of Hitlers stronghold can still be seen all over the island, from the Underground Hospital in St Lawrence to gun emplacements, bunkers and observation towers primarily on Noirmont Point, St Brealde and Les Landes, St Ouen. Jersey is probably most famous as an off shore tax haven and a Dectective named Bergerac - but it relies on its tourist industry heavily. This is reflected in the number of Hotels\Guest Houses and the amount of tourist attractions crammed into such a small area - you would find it very difficult to visit every one during a 2 week holiday ! You are also spoilt for choice when it comes to pubs\restaurants - there is something to suit every taste and pocket - from olde worlde pubs (The Olde Portelet Inn, Portelet, The Smugglers Inn, Ouanisne and La Fontaines Tavern, St John) to first class fish restaurants (The Sea Crest, St Ouen).
