Lake McConaughy Nebraska
This lake is about a fthree and a half hour drive from the Denver area. Water temp is a wide range . We saw from 40 degrees early in May to 80 as summer passes. The visablity varies from poor to around 30'. June, July were the best this year. It has excellent spear fishing. The water depth is as deep as 140' near the dam. The lake is 20 miles long and 4 miles wide. Sandy beaches are around most of the lake. There is a rocky cliff on the south side which is at a bay they call divers bay. There is camping from primitive all the way up to cabins. Also hotels in town about 10 miles away.On most weekends there is alot of boat traffic. We have always found a area without boats as the lake is so big. It's better during the week though for diving. I have allot of lures, fishing poles and a tackle box boat oars and lots of stuff we have brought up. It's allot of fun to find sthings at the bottom. |
