St. Joseph Beach Bears

Michigan Wilderness Guardian

First day, a blank white bear is delivered to the work room of the local Artist's guild. These are life sized polar bears.
For a idea of the size here is my foot beside my bears foot. He is made of fiberglass and weighs about 50 pounds.
Day 1

I did not like the blank white eyes so first things first, he got a face.

He still has very creepy eyes.

Day 2

Blue sky and black face.

Day 3-4

The forest side of the bear in the back ground painting stage

Day 4-5

The wetlands side of the bear in the back ground painting stage

Day 6-7

The first animals have arrived. Eagle and Elk.

The whole side after a week of work
The beginning of a raccoon.
Me at work on painting a deer on the bear. Another good show of how huge he is.
The whole side after 8 days work
Same side after about 2+ weeks of work.
Now starting the second side. The fox has arrived.
Three weeks of work into the bear so far.

Found out the location where my bear will be at when I am done. He will stand at the corner of Broad St. and Main. This is a high traffic area and he is sure to be seen. I am very excited!

Blue Heron
Squirrel
Moose, Fox and pheasant
Skunk, Possum and Porcupine.
My husband Tom. (I like listing him in with the animals *grin* ) He is showing off just how big these bears really are.
Starting to finish things up. Only have 8 more days to work.
One of the visitors to the work room said my bear is grinning like he has a girlfriend somewhere. That might explain the she bear and cubs on his left side.
The chipmunk has arrived.
The right "marsh" side of the bear is nearly done.
Close up of the right side.
