Background:

Nagan appears as a well dressed man, and usually favors silk for his clothing. His black hair has a slight curl to it and his eyes are mottled blue. Due to an infortunate run-in with Iuz and Vecna, Nagan often disguises himself as a short, slim human female with blonde hair using his robe of blending. He then goes by the name of Sholora. With this disguise he hopes to avoid difficult encounters with cultists from both demigods.

Nagan is an intelligent, well-educated and wise fellow. He is usually well-mannered and well-behaved. He does have a streak of boyish enthousiasm whenever he encounters dragons. Dragons are Nagan's love in life. He is obsessed by these creatures and is always on quests to acquire more information about the species. When in sight of a dragon he often loses his calm and rationale. His peers mockingly call it "Dracomania" behind his back. Nagan never tells anyone what exactly sparked this interest in dragons. Nagan has a good business sense, and is not above making a little money on the side now and then. His knowledge of Flanaess wines is great and he is good at appraising the value of other mundane items. When it comes to magical items, however, Nagan has a tendency to overestimate their power. He usually gives them garish or preposterous names. Nagan has little time for deities, and his patron deity Boccob suits him perfectly in that respect. He occassionally prays to Tiamat or Bahamut. He uses image of two dragons entwining a quarterstaf as his device.

Nagan was born on the 6th of Patchwall in 559 CY as the son to a Nyrondese wine merchant. His father, Kendall Dalornin, possessed a prospering business and Nagan received one of the best educations money could buy. As Nagan was the oldest child and stood to inherit his father's business, Kendall tried to prepare his son as best as he could. Nagan decide otherwise: he apprenticed himself to a wizard, and although his father was disappointed, he was supported by his mother in this endeavor. His master was a rather reckless type, and Nagan encountered many strange things during his time as wizard's apprentice. When his tutelage was completed, he left Nyrond and began wandering abroad.

When adventuring Nagan is always on the lookout for possible draconic encounters, and will pester new associates with a stream of questions and remarks about dragons, especially if they admit to having met real dragons in the past. Nagan has developed some spells that imitate many draconic powers and uses them at every opportunity, especially in combat. The sole exception to this is when combatting a Dragon: at these times Nagan loves to engage the dragon with his quarterstaff, so as to be as close as possible to the creature. His is not stupid however, and will break of melee combat if he is severly injured. If he finds a magical item he well attribute many (as of yet unrevealed) powers to it, and will call even a humble ring of protection +1 a "ring of ultimate power".

Nagan plans to advance his studies about dragons, and attempt to meet as many different types of the species up close as possible. He also wants to assist his father in rebuilding his wine-peddling business which collapsed during the wars. He furthermore likes to create a set of magical items called the "dragons rings". Each of these five rings corresponds to a particular chromatic dragon type, with corresponding powers and abilities.

Notes:

Nagan was my first attempt to play a single-classed human wizard - somewhat of a stereotype, or so I thought. With some assistance of one of my co-DMs Miklos de Rijk he turned into a dragon-lover and rather unconventional spellcaster. Although lawful good through the hilt, he still manages to annoy a lot of people and acts irresponsible at times. He particpated in the following adventures published by TSR: Castle Ravenloft, G2 - Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl, G3 - Hall of the Fire Giant King, Wildspace, Vecna Lives! and, of course, DRAGON MOUNTAIN.
