Author's Notes: WAI! THIS IS IT! FOLKS! Thanks to everyone who supported this fic! *************************************************************** Blue Paradise by Silver Miko EPILOGUE: It's A Paradise "Don't tell me why...don't make me cry...it's a paradise..." Misao hummed as she tapped her pencil against the desk, the music coming from her MP3 player dimly reaching Aoshi's ears. He looked up from his work and smiled at her, taking off his glasses. He reached over and took off her headphones. "Want to take a lunch break?" he asked. "Yeah, I could use a nibble." she replied, putting her MP3 player in her desk drawer and standing up, grabbing her coat as she followed Aoshi. It had been two weeks since the brothel case closed and Misao and her feet were relieved. Those boots weren't seeing the light of day for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. Unless Aoshi requested so. 'Always the quiet ones.' Misao mused with a smirk. She followed him to his car and smiled when he pulled her face to his and kissed her, then let go to put the car in drive. She grinned as she looked out the window at the blue skies. It was a beautiful day. They stopped near a cliff overlooking a lake, and Misao blinked. "Aoshi, I thought were were getting some food." Aoshi glanced at her, his eyes darkening. "Hmm, I'm hungry for something else." he murmured, and hopped over the seats until he was seated in her lap. He pulled on the handle next to her seat, causing the seat to fall back so she was laying down and he was on top of her. He brushed his lips against hers and could feel Misao smirking. "Why Aoshi, who'd have thought you would be the type for a quickie." Aoshi smirked back at her. "You forget Misao, we have an hour." Her eyes widened and she giggled. "Aoshi!" she laughed, when she felt him nipping her ear. ************************************************* "Hey, you guys are a little late back from lunch." Shiro remarked, handing a file to Aoshi who returned a blank stare at Shiro. "Are we now? I cannot control traffic." he replied simply. Shiro glanced at Misao, noticing the dreamy look in her eyes and that she looked slightly disheveled. "Traffic. Right." Shiro murmured, returning to his desk. Aoshi smiled softly at Misao, who was biting her lip to hold back a laugh. "I suppose we've ceased to be subtle." Aoshi said, leaning back in his chair. "No, not with our boss." Misao replied, rolling her eyes. She remembered when Hiko had sat them two of them down in his office a week ago and the loud conversation. "Now you two, it's pretty apparent that you've begun some sort of relationship. I hope this will not affect your duties as police officers and partners. You two work well together and I don't want any personal matters interferring." "That will not be a problem." Aoshi murmured. "That's right." Misao said, nodding. "Well, I suppose. But I'm warning you, don't do anything that'll make me have to assign you new partners." "Yes sir." "Aa." Misao sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose. With everyone knowing about them, it made work a little unsettling, especially when some of the younger women officers asked her what it was like to "melt the ice block". That had been the most unsettling two hours ever. "Misao?" Misao snapped out of her thoughts, and glanced at Aoshi. "Yes?" "I love you." "I love you, too." she replied, then blinked as it sank in. She had replied so automatically. She looked at him, her eyes wide. "Say it again, Aoshi." she asked, her hand trembling. "I love you." he murmured, resting his hand on top of hers and stroking her thumb. Misao closed her eyes, and nodded. "And I've loved you forever." she whispered. Aoshi smiled, feeling the courage now to say the other thing he wanted most to say to her at that moment. "Misao, let's get married." "EH?!" she said loudly, and blushed when everyone looked at them. Aoshi ignored the stares and kept his gaze on Misao as he reached into his desk and pulled out a box. He used the hand holding Misao's to turn it over, and placed the box in her palm. Her hand trembled as she opened the box, to see a large diamond ring sparkling at her. "When?" she asked, tears welling in her eyes. "During the brothel case. I decided then that this was what I wanted. I'm not outgoing, I brood, but I do love you, Misao and my happiness is making you smile." Misao took the ring out, and slipped it on her finger. "Did you really think I'd decline?" "I had some worries." "Then you, Shinomori Aoshi, are an idiot." "Maybe, but I'm your idiot." he said, and leaned over to give her a quick kiss. He didn't care if people were staring, this was where his happiness was, his future. With Misao. "Hey, Aoshi, I think perhaps we need to develop some things in the photo lab." "Oh?" "Yes, and you know with pictures, they could an hour or two." she said, her eyes gleaming. "Very well." he said with a small smirk as he followed her. "Yo Boss Man, we've some things to develop in the photo lab. We'll be using it for an hour." "Two." Aoshi corrected. Misao bit her lip to keep from smiling. "Yes, two hours." "Well thanks for telling me, did you want a hall pass?" Misao rolled her eyes and dragged Aoshi towards the lab. Hiko crossed his arms and sat back in his chair. "Yeah right, develop my ass. They better have me front row for the wedding." he murmured, not missing the engagement ring on Misao's finger. He smiled. He was glad for them, and decided that if Aoshi could get the girl, why couldn't he? His thoughts shifted to Okon. Aoshi and Misao were in the meantime very glad that the darkroom had a strong lock and was semi-sound proof. And somewhere in Tokyo Sanosuke was glad that he and Megumi were happy together. Yahiko was glad to be mentioned. Kenshin and Kaoru were glad to be in wedded bliss. And Saitoh? He was just glad to have such an understanding wife. Who was really good at cooking soba. And everyone was happy when one month later they received wedding invitations for Aoshi and Misao's wedding. ******************** WHAT HAPPENED WITH EVERYONE: After dating for two months, Hiko and Okon eloped and soon enough Okon gave birth to a daughter, which they named Hikaru. Sanosuke and Megumi dated for three years and then finally got married. Megumi opened her own clinic and they had two children, a son: Souzou and a daughter: Mineko. Kenshin and Kaoru were happily married and had a son, Kenji. Saitoh and Tokio had three sons: Tsutamu, Tsuyoshi, and Tsubame. Saitoh eventually was promoted to Captain. Aoshi and Misao married and remained partners. They had twins- a girl named Aya and boy named Shioni. Aoshi was promoted to Sargeant and Misao was promoted to Lieutenant. Eventually Misao inherited the Aoiya. Don't tell me why Don't make me cry It's the paradise ... ***************************** THAT'S IT GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK!
