The last six months of Dom's life had been hell.
Complete and utter misery.
He didn't know that it was possible to hurt this much. To feel so much pain, yet feel so numb at the same time. And he only had himself to blame. He was the one that had pushed Elijah away.
He hadn't meant to. God, he had never loved anyone the way that he loved Elijah. It was like all those cheesy old movies were the star finds there one true love and suddenly it's like they're seeing the world for the first time.
That's how he had made Dom feel.
All Elijah had to do was look at him and give him that secret smile and everything in Dom's world suddenly made sense. They had been happy, living together in their little loft. The 'fucking perfect couple,' as Billy had put it.
But of course, Dom couldn't be content with that. Everything was going along perfectly and he had to screw it all up.
"Have you thought about it?" Dom asked, as he walked around the kitchen, making dinner.
"About what?" Elijah had inquired, not looking up from the newspaper he was reading.
"You know, coming out," he asked, and he could hear Elijah sigh.
"Dom...," Elijah said, putting the paper down and looking up at him.
"What? Are you so ashamed to be with me?!" Dom demanded.
"I'm just not ready! God, why can't you deal with that?!" Elijah yelled, before standing up and storming out of the room.
Everything would have worked out eventually.
If Dom hadn't kept pushing Elijah to come out. He knew it was a mistake every-time he brought it up, he knew that Elijah would come to him and tell him when he was ready but he couldn't help himself. He just wanted everyone to know how utterly happy he was.
He pushed a little to hard.
"I can't do this anymore," Elijah had said, quietly over dinner. Dom looked up at him across the table. "I just can't do this anymore," he repeated.
"Why?" Dom asked, barely above a whisper.
"I love you, Dom. You know that," Elijah whispered, Dom snorted. Elijah ignored him and continued on, "And I always will. But we're not at the same points in our life anymore. Things change. It just isn't working anymore."
"I still love you," Dom had said, and Elijah nod.
They finished eating in silence.
"You can stay here," Elijah said, as they washed the dishes. "I have to go film a movie for a the next few months anyway. I should get an apartment closer to the set."
"Ok," Dom said, not looking at him. He noticed a small chip in his favorite plate and ran his finger over it. He felt a sharp, quick pain and saw a thin line of blood run down his finger. "Fuck."
The next morning, Elijah had been gone. Completely packed up everything of value to him and left before Dom even woke up.
After that, Dom tried to move on. He called Billy, but they might as well have been talking about the weather.
Orlando came out to L.A. and the two went clubbing. But Dom could never bring himself to look at anyone. Girls and guys would come up to him, ask him to dance or flirt shamelessly with him but he always pushed them away.
"It's too soon," he explain to Orlando as they left the club.
"No, Dom, it's to late," Orlando had said the final night he was in town.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Dom asked, as they climbed into a taxi.
"It means," Orlando stated, "that your days of wandering eyes, pointless dating are over. You found who you were looking for."
"To bad he didn't find me," Dom sighed, and Orlando wrapped his arm around his shoulder and gave him a hug.
"He'll come around, I promise," he said.
Six months later, Elijah still hadn't.
God, he hadn't even called him. It was like Elijah had fallen off the face of the planet.
And Dom was still destroyed.
"That's it," Billy said over the phone. "I am flying out to L.A. and we are gonna find you some hot guy. You need to get over Elijah."
"I don't want to get over him," Dom complained. "I want Elijah back."
"I know," Billy said, his voice lowering to a whisper.
"It still hurts," he started, when he was interrupted by a loud banging on the door. "I'll call you back, someone's here."
He hung up the phone and walked to the door. This better be important, he thought as he opened the door. It was a a dreary, rainy day and a gust of cold wind hit Dom as soon as he opened the door.
Or maybe it was the sight of Elijah standing out there, soaking wet that sent a chill down his spine.
"It was a mistake," Elijah whispered. Dom wanted to say something, anything. Six months of having imaginary conversations with this man in his head and wishing for this moment but now he was speechless. He backed out the door, letting Elijah in out of the rain. He turned to meet Elijah's gaze.
"Ending this was a mistake, Dom," Elijah said again, and Dom could tell he had been crying. "I mean, God, I thought it was the right thing to do, you know. You wanted to come out, let everyone know who you were and I was the chicken-shit boyfriend holding you back. I thought if I left you, you could find someone that wasn't afraid of what everyone would say."
"You think I wasn't afraid?" Dom asked, shocked that he had been able to get the words out.
"You always seemed so brave," he said, stepping towards him. "I miss you. More than I thought humanly possible. It's never hurt like this before. I'm broken without you. And I tried to move on, I really did. But every-time I looked at anyone all I could think of was you and how the idea of kissing someone else made me sick."
Dom nodded, his hand reaching out and cupping Elijah's face. "I want to fix this. I'm not afraid anymore. I just wanna be with you again. I still love you, Dom. You're it for me."
Dom closed his eyes and pressed his lips against Eijah's. It was a soft kiss, sweet and innocent. "You're it for me to, baby," Dom whispered.
Elijah smiled, his eyes flashing with life before Dom pressed their lips together again. Dom moaned softly as Elijah opened his to allow Dom's tongue to enter his mouth.
It's been too long since we've done this, Dom thought as he explored Elijah's mouth with his tongue, re-discovering every aspect of it. He could feel himself growing hard as he wrapped his arms around Elijah and pressed him up against the wall. Somehow he managed to kick the door shut without parting his body from Elijah's.
"Dom," Elijah moaned, as he began to trail kisses down his neck, tasting the rain on his salty skin. He grabbed Elijah's wet shirt and pulled it off of him. The rain had easily slipped threw the thin cotton and left Elijah's skin damp. Dom continued to kiss him down his chest, his tongue dancing around his nipple causing a loud moan to escape from Elijah's lips.
He could feel Elijah began to claw at his shirt and Dom allowed him to pull it off. Elijah leaned in and began to kiss his lips again, savoring the taste of rain and cigarette smoke. Dom's hand ran down Elijah's side and over his jean-clad crouch.
"Fuck," Elijah moaned into Dom's mouth. Oh yeah, he thought, it has been way to long. He unzipped Elijah's paints painfully slow and snaked his hand down his pants, wrapping his hand around Elijah's dick. Elijah bit down on Dom's lips and thrust his hips forward into Dom's touch.
Dom quickly pulled Elijah's pants and blue stripped boxers down to his ankles and got down on his knees. He looked up, his eyes connecting with Elijah's before he slowly licked the tip of Elijah's penis. Elijah closed his eyes and began to breath more deeply. Dom took Elijah completely in his mouth and began to suck on him, moving him in and out of his mouth. He could hear his breathing become irregular and a mumble of words slipping out of his lips. Elijah ran his hands threw Dom's hair as he continued to pump in and out. Finally, Dom ran his hand up the side of Elijah's leg and started to stroke his balls.
"Dom!" Elijah yelled, as he came in Dom's mouth. Dom pulled back and Elijah slid down the wall so he was sitting in-front of him. Dom leaned into kiss again, praying to God this wasn't just wet dream. "Fuck me," Elijah begged, tugging at Dom's jeans. Dom could only nod.
He somehow managed to get to the bedroom to retrieve the condom and lubricant. He felt him penis pressing against his jeans, growing harder by the second.
He turned around to return to the hall but was stopped at the sight of naked Elijah standing in the doorway. Elijah walked over to him and pushed him down onto the bed. Their lips met again and they began to kiss like there was no tomorrow. Eventually, Dom's pants and boxers were discarded to the floor and they were both laying there, naked. Elijah began to nibble on Dom's ear as he ripped the condom wrapper and put it on. Elijah had taken the lubricant from him and poured some into his hands. He rubbed them to together to give them warmth before making a fist around Dom's penis. Dom gasped, remembering the feeling of someone beside himself touching him.
They rolled over so Dom was on top, looking down at Elijah. He kissed Dom's neck quickly before thrusting himself into him. They both gasped. Six months of absence had made Elijah tight again. Dom slowly thrust in and out, making sure he wasn't hurting Elijah. But as his body re-adjusted he began to pick up speed, thrusting harder and deeper.
"Elijah," he moaned, as the man under him reached up and pulled his lips down to meet his in a kiss. The moans grew louder, and finally Dom came screaming Elijah's name and was shortly followed by Elijah's. He pulled out of him and rolled over on the bed next to him. The room smelled of sex, sweat and the vanilla candle that Dom hadn't ever actually burned. He tilted his head to look into Elijah's eyes, happy for the first time in six months.
"Don't ever leave me again," Dom whispered. He didn't think he could handle it if he lost Elijah again.
"I promise," Elijah agreed, licking Dom's lips. "You're it for me, remember. Now and forever."
