Rebirth

It was finally over. The enemies had been vanquished and thus Nosgoth saved.
Kain looked at the Reaver, huming and shining slightly and still vibrating
with pride and joy. Raziel was happy, he had fulfilled his part in that crucial
war.
Standing among the Pillars, Kain, stroke the Reaver gently. Something was left
to be done. Something he had promised Raziel and himself he would try to do.
He walked to the center of the platform and turned to face the Balance Pillar,
his Pillar, then struck the ground with all his power. He felt the Reaver's
blade braking then was engulfed in the most brilliant light he'd ever seen.
The air was filled with electricity, sparks were surrounding him and hitting
the Pillars, sounds he had never thought could exist reached his ears.
And then as suddenly as it had started, it stopped. Kain blinked, his eyes
still sore from the agressive light. All was calm, no sound could be heard.
Then Kain realized that a faint sound was coming from the ground. He gasped
at the sight of a baby curling at his feet. A baby with pale blue skin and jet
black hair. He turned his golden eyes at Kain and rustled his tiny black wings.
Kain looked in disbelief.
"Raziel..."
He picked the small child from the stone floor and carefully wrapped his cape
around him. The baby tugged at the crimson fabric with his little claws and
settled against the other vampire's powerful chest. Kain was distracted from
his adoration by a crunching sound: right under his eyes, the Pillars were being
restaured. Raziel yawned. Kain knew that in that instant other little vampire
were being born in Nosgoth. And he knew that he had to find them, to raise them,
to be their father, mentor and king. He smiled at the irony: Raziel was the
first born, as before. Maybe by chosing him as his first son in the first time
he had only been anticipating Nosgoth's rebirth. After all, that had always
been his goal.
Raziel sneezed and shivered in his arms. Kain raised him to his face and looked
at him. The baby smiled and reached Kain's cheek with his tiny claws. Kain kissed
the little brow. Really, it wasn't what he had expected. He wanted to bring
Raziel back, purified like the Reaver. But he had hoped he would have his lover
back, he had never thought he would be reborn as a baby. Seeing the blue skin
and black wings he knew that he hadn't failed, though. The Vampire race was
saved. Now all he had to do was to take care of that precious baby and be patient.
He wasn't going to be a baby for the rest of his life. Kain had lived centuries
to fight for Nosgoth's sake. Now it was time for him to live a few more centuries
to get some rest. And some love... Just a few years and his Raziel would be
his companion, as before. And what were a few years in an eternity?
Picking the remains of the Reaver, he concentrated his thoughts toward the
deserted Sarafan stronghold and teleported himself and the baby there. If he
had to take care of children, he needed space. And he had the strange feeling
that the new born Vampires were going to have very familiar faces...
