I have been a medical transcriptionist since 1977 and was certified through the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT) in 1981. In 1999 I assisted Patricia Ireland, CMT, when she taught the medical terminology/medical transcription course offered by Stephen Gatlin at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Most of my work experience has been transcribing for acute care hospitals such as the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
I have been active at the local and state levels of AAMT, having been a Texas delegate to the AAMT House of Delegates in 2000-2001 and former President of the Alamo Chapter of AAMT in San Antonio, Texas. I am currently Cert Connector and Continuing Education Chair for the Alamo Chapter.
