Chapter 2: The Rude Awakening

The next morning�

Goku forced himself out of bed and down the stairs for breakfast. He felt terrible. Maybe his little episode with ChiChi was to blame, but he didn�t know. He dragged himself in the kitchen where ChiChi was cooking. She turned around and smiled.
�Good morning, Goku. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes, so you�ll have to be patient,� ChiChi stated. He nodded, and before he left the kitchen, he kissed her on the cheek and walked out just as Gayah walked in.
�Morning, bro,� she said. He smiled.
�Mornin�, sis,� he replied back. ChiChi stared dreamily as her husband left the kitchen.
�ChiChi, what�s up with him?� Gayah asked as she approached ChiChi.
�I don�t know. After last night�� ChiChi started, blushing.
�I know. I talked about it with him. I heard you when you came back inside, so I went out and talked to him,� Gayah interrupted. ChiChi nodded.
�Oh, I see,� she said. She turned back to the oven. Gayah smiled.
�Something else happened other than that between you two last night, am I right?� Gayah guessed.
�I don�t know what you�re talking about,� ChiChi replied.
�You don�t? Well ChiChi, do I have to go and ask my brother?� Gayah asked.
�NO! Don�t ask Goku anything!� ChiChi demanded. Gayah chuckled. ChiChi sighed.
�So I was right. You two were having some fun last night, weren�t you?� Gayah urged. ChiChi nodded.
�Y-yes�� Gayah giggled.
�That�s alright. It�s good that you two can still connect after all the years you�ve been together,� Gayah remarked. ChiChi just nodded, and then went into �mother-mode�.
�Okay, that�s enough talk. Go get everyone and tell them that breakfast is ready. Hurry before it gets cold!� ChiChi scolded as she pushed Gayah out of the kitchen.
�Man, she sure is demanding,� Gayah murmured to herself as she walked in the living room. Goku was watching TV when Goten, Fey�lya and Gohan carrying infant Zimena walked in the room. �Well, good morning, children. Sleep well?�
�I slept good Mama,� Fey�lya answered as she stretched.
�Me too Aunt Gayah!� Goten cheered.
�I sleep goodie, Mommy,� Zimena stammered. Gayah looked at Gohan when he never answered.
�What about you, Gohan?� Gayah asked. He put Zimena down and he just looked at her. Goku looked up with confusion and seriousness on his face.
�Uhh�not too bad, I guess,� he stuttered. Gayah nodded slowly. She looked at Goten, Fey�lya and Zimena.
�Why don�t you three go get ready for breakfast? We�ll be in shortly,� Gayah ordered nicely. The three half-Saiyans nodded and ran into the bathroom to wash their hands. �Goku, Gohan, c�mere.� She walked out of the house, tugging on Gohan�s hand while Goku followed. �Okay, what happened?�
�I just didn�t sleep too well, that�s all,� Gohan answered.
�You feel it too, don�t you son?� Goku asked. Gohan looked at him, then looked at his feet.
�Well Goku, this seems to be a family affair. All three of us can feel this. Oh God�I hope Goten, Fey�lya and Zimena can�t feel this. If they do, then that means that this evil is so strong that it can even reach the youngest of minds,� Gayah hoped aloud.
�Don�t worry about it, Gayah. Even it does reach them, they�ll be fine. They can handle it,� Goku reassured.
�I don�t know about that. I can barely handle it, Goku. It�s really weakened me,� Gayah confessed. Goku and Gohan both gasped. �What? You think my physicality is immune to it? Well, so did I until last night.�
�Why? What happened last night?� Gohan asked.
�Well, it all started long after I talked your father. It was around 4 in the morning, and I still couldn�t sleep. So I got up and went outside. I looked up at the sky just in time to see a shooting star. And when that happened, I was hit with enormous pain from out of nowhere�� Gayah started. She could picture it in her mind perfectly. She fell to the ground, clutching her head in immense pain. �I had no idea what was going on, so I did the only thing I could. I forced myself to go into unconsciousness.�
�And how did you do that?� Goku questioned. Gayah lifted up her shirt, and bandages were wrapped around her stomach. �Gayah, what did you DO to yourself?�
�I shot myself, and went straight into unconsciousness. The pain I was feeling was unbearable, and that was the only thing I could think of doing at that time. Luckily I woke before anyone else, dragged myself in the house, patched myself up, and went to bed for a few hours,� Gayah explained.
�That wasn�t the best thing to do, you know, Gayah. You really shouldn�t have attacked yourself. Is it bothering you now?� Gohan asked.
�What? My wound?�
Gohan nodded.
�Well�yes, but I�m managing. If I move a wrong way then it will affect me, but right now, no. It does not bother me, not at all,� Gayah stated. �It should heal very soon. It wasn�t that major. The Psywave Meditation will speed up the healing process, so it will only take a few days, maybe not even that long.�
�That doesn�t make up for the fact that you put your own life in danger last night. You shouldn�t have done that. I�m sure there was an easier way to tend with it,� Goku pointed out. He folded his arms over his chest. �And what I want to know is why you were effected the way you were. You should have been able to deal with it better than that.� Gayah made a face.
�What else could I have done, Goku? Trust me, if there was a better alternative, I would have done it. But this was the only thing I could think of doing,� Gayah replied.
�Okay, fine Gayah. As long as you�re okay. Until we figure out what is going on, let�s just act like nothing�s wrong,� Goku stated. Gohan and Gayah nodded, then walked back in the house.

Bulma, Vegeta and Trunks were joining Goku and the others for breakfast. It was going regularly, except for the fact that Kitaria was not there. Then�
Kitaria busted through the door to the house, panting greatly. Everyone looked at her.
�Whoa�you must be pretty hungry, Kitaria,� Bulma remarked.
�It�s not�that�� she stuttered. She fell to the ground, unconscious.
�Oh my God! Kitaria!� Gayah exclaimed as she stood. As she ran to her side, she fell down in pain, screaming out.
�Mama!� Fey�lya yelled.
�Stay back, Fey�lya! Your mother will be fine!� Zasyder called to his daughter. Goku reached down to Gayah as electricity flared around her body. She moaned in hurt, and looked at Goku.
�Goku�it�s here�� And with that, Gayah�s head fell. She went unconscious as well.
�What is going on here?� Gohan asked.
�I don�t know Gohan�I just don�t know�� Goku faded off.
