| Chapter Two: The Tension Continues 10 Years Later... "KAKARITA, WHERE ARE YOU?" Prince Vegeta, now 15 years old, marched through the halls of the new castle on Theria where the remaining Saiyans lived. "Prince Vegeta, please calm down. We're looking for her as we speak," Nappa replied as he followed close behind the teenage leader. "She ran off...AGAIN. She certainly was easier to contend with when she was just an infant. Now that she has a mind of her own...argh!" "Well, Prince Vegeta, you are the one she is with the most, so..." "So you are saying the way she acts is MY fault??" "Of course not, Sire. Please, just stay calm. Yolina and I will find her," Nappa assured. Vegeta sighed. "Whatever you say, Nappa. Once you find her, bring her to me," Vegeta ordered. "It has already been done, Your Highness. Look." Vegeta turned around to find Yolina walking toward them, holding up Kakarita by the collar. "Well done, Yolina. You found her," Vegeta stated. Yolina dropped Kakarita to the ground. "Ow! Damn you, Yolina," Kakarita cursed. "Watch your mouth, Kakarita. Where were you?" Vegeta demanded. "Where am I EVERY time, 'Geta?" Kakarita said as she stood up. "Do NOT get smart with me, Kakarita. How many times do I have to tell you not to leave your training until you're finished?" Vegeta questioned. "You tell me every time I do this. Training is boring, 'Geta. It's a lot more fun in the Meadow of Shadows," Kakarita pointed out. "Do not call me 'Geta. And the Meadow of Shadows is dangerous. I don't want you wandering off alone," Vegeta ordered. "You're just saying that because you don't want to lose me so you can carry on the Saiyan race. You don't give a damn about my well-being," Kakarita yelled. "What did I say about your language, Kakarita? And that isn't true. Of course I CARE about your well-being," Vegeta informed. "Sure. I bet you DO. Now, just leave me alone," Kakarita commented. And with that, she began walking off. "Kakarita, I'm not finished with you. Kakarita!!" Vegeta stated. "Prince Vegeta, it would be wise to leave her alone for awhile. You know how she is after each of your arguments. After she is calm, you should talk to her," Yolina advised. "Very well," Vegeta sighed. "I do not know how I have dealt with this for the past ten years." "Well, you know you must, Sire. She is to be your wife when she is older. Her selfishness will be difficult to overcome, but it will be done," Nappa replied. "She is only 10 years old, and she speaks as if she was an adult. I don't know how I'm going to deal with her when she's a teenager," Vegeta informed. "It would be best not to think about it, Prince Vegeta. For now, let me speak with her. Since the princess and I are both of the female gender, we may have an understanding," Yolina suggested. "You have a point. Permission granted, Yolina. We don't have anything to lose. Go ahead and talk to her, and report to me afterwards," Vegeta ordered. Yolina nodded and walked off. "Do you think Yolina can get something from Kakarita?" Nappa questioned. "Possibly. It all depends on the princess and whether she is willing to let us help her with whatever may be troubling her deep down," Vegeta stated. "That may be the problem, Prince Vegeta. Something is obviously troubling her. Maybe she questions herself on the whereabouts of her family. And we cannot forget that twin siblings will always have connections with each other. Kakarita may vaguely feel this connection with her brother and questions its purpose," Nappa explicated. "After all, she probably does not remember that she even HAS a younger brother." "Perhaps, Nappa. She WAS an infant when everything occurred. We can't possibly expect her to remember everything that happened. I suppose it is time for me to tell her the truth about everything that happened on planet Vegeta, including the death of her father and the existence of her younger twin brother. And, of course, the existence of Frieza," Vegeta commented. "It is best, Sire," Nappa agreed. He bowed to his future king and they slowly walked off to the throne room. Yolina approached the door to Kakarita's room. She knocked twice and awaited a sign that she could enter. The door slowly crept open and Kakarita's blue eyes appeared. "Yolina, what is it?" "I ask permission to speak with you, Princess Kakarita," Yolina began. "Of course. Come in," Kakarita replied as she opened her door completely so Yolina could enter. They sat on Kakarita's bed and Yolina looked at the young princess. "Princess Kakarita, I would like to know what it troubling you," Yolina started. "I am, after all, your bodyguard. If there is anything you would like to know, please ask." "What is my purpose in life, Yolina? To carry on Vegeta's race and family?" Kakarita questioned. "Well, that isn't exactly your purpose. When you were born, King Vegeta felt special abilities within you. That is why he chose you to become the future queen of the Saiyans. He knew that you would rule over the Saiyans with Vegeta the best way possible," Yolina explained. "What happened to my parents, Yolina? I can handle it. Please, Vegeta won't tell me anything that I want to know," Kakarita sobbed. "Your parents...are both dead, Kakarita. Your mother died after giving birth...to your younger twin brother," Yolina informed. Kakarita stood, completely shocked. "I...I have a BROTHER?!" "Yes. Kakarot is his name." "Then why...isn't he here? Why were we seperated?" "Because of the menace, Frieza. He has been ordering around the Saiyan race for years. Saiyans have been sent to planets on purging missions. Your brother was one of them, while you were chosen to be the princess and Prince Vegeta's future wife. As for your father...he was killed by Frieza," Yolina explicated. "No! Why did my father have to die?" Kakarita cried. "It's in Frieza's nature to kill and make people suffer. You see, Kakarita, Frieza does not know that you exist. Frieza actually believes that the prince is dead. The planet Vegeta was destroyed by a meteor shower not long after the deaths of not only your father, but Vegeta's as well," Yolina continued. "I cannot believe these things have occurred," Kakarita stated. She sat back down. "Is this why Vegeta is so concerned about my strength? Is he afraid that Frieza may discover that we are still alive and come after us?" "That may be so. You would have to question him on that, my princess. But, Prince Vegeta believes that you have much stress considering all the hate you have towards him. I sure hope you do not hate him as much as we all think," Yolina hoped aloud. "Not really, I suppose. He can be annoying, though," Kakarita groaned. "But I guess that is just in his blood." "That is a way of putting it, yes. But Princess Kakarita, please do not let any of these things that I told you ruin your training. It is extremely important that your powers be awakened. We want to be prepared for anything that may occur. We must be prepared to protect this planet at all costs, because if something were to happen to Theria, I am not sure where we would go. But, do not let that bother you. I ask of you that you try to get along better with the prince. Do the Saiyans a favor," Yolina commented. Kakarita nodded slowly. "Alright, I will attempt to get along with that arrogant bast -" "Kakarita, watch your language. I know sometimes Vegeta uses profanity, but you are too young for it," Yolina interrupted. Kakarita sighed. "Okay okay. I'll try to catch myself from now on," Kakarita said. "Good. Now, you have another training session with Prince Vegeta in about 20 minutes. Make sure you're there," Yolina ordered. Kakarita nodded. "Oh, and Princess, I am relieved that you have obtained the information on Frieza and your family. Maybe now you will take things more seriously." And with that, Yolina walked out of Kakarita's bedroom. About 15 minutes after her talk with Yolina, Kakarita reemerged from her bedroom to head for the training courtyard with Vegeta. "I really guess I better listen to Yolina. 'Geta had that look on his face that he was going to blow his stack," Kakarita said to herself. She walked around the corner and out of the palace where Vegeta was patiently waiting. "Vegeta." The prince turned around and saw Kakarita standing there with a blank expression on her face. "Well, I sure hope you are ready to get down to business, my Princess," Vegeta replied. "Of course, my Prince," Kakarita answered. "Glad to hear it. I'm proud to hear that you straightened up after that talk with Yolina," Vegeta commented. "Did she tell you about it?" Kakarita questioned. "Of course she did," Vegeta responded. "I ordered her to tell me everything that happened after she was finished with you." "So, it was nothing more than a mere ORDER to speak to me?! Is that all you see me as, Vegeta? You can't control me. You're just my future husband. I don't have any family to boss me around. Maybe I should conduct a search for the brother I never knew I had. Why didn't you ever tell me? Didn't you think it would be important to me?" Kakarita asked. "I never told you because of the effect it is having on you know, Kakarita. We don't have TIME to go looking for your long-lost brother. We need to train in case Frieza discovers our whereabouts. I'm surprised we've gone this long without being detected, which seems rather suspicious," Vegeta stated. "I don't CARE about Frieza right now, Vegeta. I care about the only family I possibly have left. I want to find my brother, dammit," Kakarita cursed. "I thought Yolina came to grips with your profanity, Kakarita. She warned you, as well as I, that you are not to speak like that," Vegeta reminded her. "Oh come off it, Vegeta. I don't care about my language either. I told you, I want to find Kakarot," Kakarita retorted. "When we have time, Kakarita. But we don't have time or options. We have to prepare. Once Frieza is dealt with, you may do what you please and find your brother," Vegeta said. "No, I want to find him NOW." "What can I say to change your mind? We really do not have - " " - What? TIME? We really don't have TIME to finish this discussion because it's not about YOU? Screw you, Vegeta. I hate you. I hate the Saiyan race, and I hate this planet. I want to be a regular human being, not some betrothed puppet to an arrogant prince of a near-extinct race of warriors. I have feelings, and I would rather have someone acknowledge them. Have some OTHER female Saiyan be your wife, because I sure as Hell will not let you marry me. And while you're at it, find another sparring partner, because I'm going to start training when I want and with whoever I want," Kakarita snapped. And with that, she turned around and stomped off. Vegeta watched her go in awe. "What am I doing wrong, Father? If you were not strong enough to defeat Frieza, then I know I'm not, as well as Kakarita. I am getting paranoid, and I only want to save her...she is just too young to see that. What should I do, dammit??" He stood there alone in the courtyard. "I suppose I better go...talk to her myself." Vegeta quickly walked off, determined to end this quarrel. |
