| Dear Diary, NOOO, leaving Florence TODAY!!!! Before our tour left for Padua, there was an excursion/optional tour to Pisa. So once again, out under the blazing sun, half the tour, including my family and I, went up onto the air-conditioned coach and headed down to Pisa. There in Pisa, I saw the one and only Tower of Pisa! Finally, I got to see it first-handed; the real thing, and not some pictures out of the book. There I also got to see a wooden gate, where the Pilgrims used to go through to get into Pisa. There I also saw a cemetry. It was an indoor one, which was now converted to a museum. There was also a chapel. After all these wonderful views, and visits, we returned onto the bus. |
| After Pisa, we went back to the hotel to pick up the rest of the crew, who didn't come along on the optional tour. Then we went on our way to Padua! When we finally reached our destination, we were to ride a shuttle bus to the actual tourist main attractions. Well anyways, after the short ride, we met up with our local guide. After the interesting tour, my family and I took lots of pictures. However, on the shuttle ride back to the check point, it was my worst nightmare! Anyways, the thing that mattered was that we were in Padua at last! There I along with the others, followed our local guide to visit the Basilica of St. Anthony. Well, maybe I should mention this earlier, and I will go back to the index, but here I should say that, since on this trip to Italy, I had visited so many Basilicas and chapels, the information may not be 100% accurate, so if you just so happens to decide to use these information as research for your paper on Italy, I advise strongly that you do not. Anyways, back to the Basilica of St. Anthony, it was huge, and pretty, with parts of St. Anthony behind the glass case and in enclosed jars. (hmm... I hope I am talking of the right Basilica, LOL) Anyways, we didn't do much in Padua. "Could you imagine being packed like sardines in a restricted area - a shuttle bus? And you better believe this, your fingers could hurt so much after just a short ride! Being squished up like that, could you imagine the sweat and stank? Ewww.... totally disgusting! The worst part was when you get off the bus and into the unbearably hot weather, you could actually feel all the sweat through your shirt!!!! All sweaty and feeling sticky and icky! Disgusting or what? One word and its sysnonyms to describe it all is: YUCK!!!! That was how I felt when I got off the shuttle bus. Next we advanced to Venice. That bus ride took awhile, especially when the air conditioning was leaking in the bus. So when I was sleeping, suddenly, *drip* *drip*... argh, I was wet! It was all because of condensation caused from the cool air inside next to the boiling hot air outside. Finally, after a long drive, I was at Venice! On tomorrow's diary entry, I will provide you with a bit of information on Venice, but right now, after checking into the hotel "Hotel Universo & Nord", I along with the others ate a scrumptious dinner filled with fresh seafood. Just thinking of it now, makes my mouth water! Well after that filling dinner, my family and I walked along the shoreline, and through the state itself. The view was incredibly beautiful and romantic; however, the River Grand itself smelled not exactly awful, but bad. Anyways, I wished I could walk along the banks of Venice all night, under the bright moonlight and the twinkling stars, but I was so tired, I retired back to the hotel, and sought out my bed, and went to a deep sleep! Good Night! luv Florence |
