Chronicles of Midnight
By Mistress Midnight
Chapter 1 – Seduction
Part A
What a night, I
thought. First, I almost kill that poor girl as she walked across the street,
then I proceed to destroy the grocery bag she was carrying. I continued my
self-loathing as I stepped into the alley that lead to my street. The day was
going bad, and it was about to get worse.
What was that?! I
turned towards the noise behind me, but I saw nothing. "Who's there?"
I asked into the darkness.
At first, nothing
answered me, but soon there came the gravelly voice. "Your soul is both
pure and powerful. That's quite rare. But there's something... tainting it...
No worry, you'll do more than perfectly," a voice hissed from the darkness
as the hour of midnight struck.
“I won’t let you
take me without a fight, demon,” I growled, drawing myself into a fighting
stance.
“You cannot fight
me. Your darkness is mine,” it responded, catching me off guard.
I screamed as I
felt the demon enter my body and tear my soul in half.
The next night I
saw the blonde boy leaning against the bar. I knew he was one of the boys I was
looking for. I saw the smug look on his face; he was underage in this club. By
the look of him, I would say he was just barely underage, perhaps 17 or so. I
watched him from the moment he walked in. I noticed he didn't get asked for ID,
and he looked rather relieved at that fact. I saw his drink next... a mild gin
and tonic... the drink most associated with those who are trying to look
sophisticated and traditional. He smiled, but it wasn't at me, perhaps at some
private joke. He had obviously gotten to this club before his friends, so he
resorted to trying to find someone interesting to pass the time with. I watched
him looking at all the people in the club.
To his right, two
girls were on the dance floor. He watched them for a few minutes, then smiled
again, shaking his head. I knew what he was thinking; they would dance and
probably sleep with anything on two legs. He wasn't that desperate for company
as he looked to his right. There he found a girl who was talking to the DJ. She
was pretty in her own right, with short fire-red hair and evergreen-colored
eyes, but she screamed one phrase... "make-up fanatic!"
The blonde shook
his head for the umpteenth time that night and looked to my right, at the three
girls at the pool table next to mine who were arguing over whose turn it was
and... Ding ding ding! He spotted me, and I tried to make it look like I'd been
lining up a difficult shot instead of watching him. I was dressed to kill in my
black vinyl thigh-high boots, a black vinyl miniskirt, and a fitted short black
vinyl coat over a skin-tight white shirt. My usually unstyled brown hair fell
in layers curled around my face, while the rest of it rested in soft curls below
my shoulders. Knowing my eyes were bloodshot from the encounter the night
before, and the fact that I couldn't see 3 inches in front of my face without
the prescription, I wore my sunglasses.
I watched him
lift his glass and watch me over the brim. I leaned across the table to line up
another shot, and his eyebrow rose. Good. He was watching. I wiggled a little,
inching my skirt up higher. I purposefully slid the cue stick through my
fingers, eliciting another eyebrow raise and a hip shift. I was paying so much
attention to getting his attention that I missed my shot, and when I pursed my
painted ruby-red lips the blonde licked his own. His khakis were kind of loose,
but from the looks of it they were getting a little tight.
I noticed he was
gathering his courage to come talk to me and decided to beat him to the punch.
I set my cue stick across the table and walked towards the empty spot next to
him at the bar. I noticed his lips moving silently, as if he wanted to say
something. Finally, as I reached the bar, he spoke.
"Hey,"
he said as I stepped next to him.
I nodded to the
boy, then turned to the bartender. "Another sparkling water, please?"
The bartender
nodded and left to get my drink. After a moment, the boy decided to try again.
"Are you
American?"
I made my eyes
widen, as if some great secret had been revealed. I took a deep breath and
replied, "Originally. I was born in Michigan, but moved here a year ago.
You look American yourself, you know. Why do you ask?"
The blonde
flashed a million-dollar smile. "I can tell. You have an accent."
"I've been
trying to get rid of it for as long as I've been here. I'm trying to cut off
all ties to that horrid place." I hadn't meant to let that last part slide
out, but it did. I was fine, just as long as he didn't ask questions about my
previous life in America. As long as he didn't ask about Patrick.
"I like your
accent," he spoke in clear, precise English.
I didn't mean to,
but I flinched and it took a minute for me to respond. After the second deep
breath that night, I responded in kind. "I haven't spoken these words in
forever. I never expected to use them again."
Another grin from
the blonde. "You have a lovely voice, no matter which language you
speak."
"Thank
you." I made my cheeks redden slightly.
Reverting back to
Japanese, the mystery boy continued. "You look nice. Is this what you
normally wear?"
I deepened the
blush, even though I didn't feel embarrassed. I had to play up his weakness for
shy, polite girls if I was to get what I was sent to retrieve. I followed his
lead in returning to Japanese. "Thank you... By the way, my name is Rae.
Rae Holliday."
"Seiji Date.
Pleasure to meet you, Ms. Holliday." Seiji leaned forward and kissed my
hand.
The bartender
chose that moment to break in. "Your water, miss."
"Thank
you," I smiled, then turned to Seiji. "You know, playing pool by
yourself can get pretty boring. Care to join me, Seiji? I promise I won't shark
you."
Seiji just
grinned.
"Eight ball,
far left pocket," I announced before I leaned across the table to line up
my shot.
"And you
said you wouldn't shark me," Seiji grinned.
Seiji looked
again at the pool table in front of us. He still had five pool balls on the
table, and they all were impossible shots. He had already lost three games and
was now on the verge of the fourth.
"You do
realize that if you'd quit staring at my bum perhaps you might win a game,
eh?" I taunted without turning around.
Seiji hit me
lightly across said bum with his pool stick and laughed. "Just
shoot."
As I leaned
further across the table, I could almost feel Seiji's smile widen. Glancing
back at him, I wiggled my hips a little, then returned to my shot. Moving like
a silent cat, Seiji crept up behind me and leaned against my back to whisper in
my ear.
"Can you
sink it like this?"
I made my body
tense up to continue my game. From the corner of my eye I saw Seiji's smile
that said "You're gonna miss!" It was definitely the most blatantly
sexual move he'd made all night, and it could only mean that I was going to get
my prize. After the umpteenth forced deep breath that night, I lined up the
ball and shot.
*PLUNK!*
The eight ball
fell right into the pocket I had called, and the cue ball stopped at the exact
center of the table as if placed there by a hand. My entire being relaxed as
Seiji's jaw hit the floor.
"I don't
believe it..." he started slowly as he stood up.
I quickly
followed his movement, keeping my body in contact with Seiji's. I had almost
lost this one with that win, and I had to make sure he stayed mine. I leaned
against him for an uncertain moment, then felt his arms encircle my waist. I
snuggled into him and could feel the effect I was having on his being. Seiji
leaned his head forward, and when his lips brushed my ear, I shuddered.
Following suit, I leaned my head back until my lips were just below his ear.
"I need
you," I whispered.
"I... I need
you too," Seiji stammered.
"Let's go to
your place."
"Follow
me."
Jackpot.
Seiji poked his
head into the door at the house we had come to. By the amount of cars in the
driveway, it was obviously occupied by more than just him. That explained his
hesitance at going inside. Either he didn't bring too many girls home, or this
house was occupied by many girls. I wasn't sure which, and I didn't care. I
knew no one was up when Seiji breathed a sigh of relief. I chose that moment to
seal my deal, and whispered in his ear.
"Is the
coast clear?"
He shuddered and
pulled me into the living room. He walked to the doorway between the kitchen
and living room and called to someone, his voice shaking slightly.
"Ro? You
still up?"
"Basement,"
said a cute New York accent.
"You going
to bed soon?" Seiji inquired.
"This book's
good. It'll prob'ly be a coupl'a hours before I go ta bed. Why?" the voice
responded.
"No reason.
Night Ro."
"Night!"
"Coast clear
now?" I asked with a smile.
"Upstairs,"
Seiji pulled me to the staircase.
We crept up the
stairs and stopped at the door to one of the bedrooms. Inside, I saw a stocky
boy who reminded me of a teddy bear in one of the twin beds. He looked so
fierce with his size, but his face was gentle and caring. In the other was a
smaller, fragile looking boy. Glancing to the smaller boy's bookshelf over his
bed, I realized why he was so lithe; there were diving trophies amongst cute
little fish figurines and ocean life books. The larger boy was snoring loudly
while his counterpart was mumbling softly.
We walked a few
more steps and stopped at an empty, but well-lived-in room. On the bed was a
white tiger that growled at me as I looked at him.
"Shush,
White Blaze! Where's Ryo?" Seiji inquired of the tiger.
White Blaze gave
Seiji a look that said, "I don't know. Who's she?"
"Don't worry
about her," Seiji replied to the tiger's look, "She'll answer all
your questions tomorrow morning."
Ah, if only he
knew I wouldn't be there in the morning. Would he have still taken my offer? Ah
well, it didn't matter. I needed his powerful soul, and I wouldn't rest until
it was mine.
We continued a
foot or two to the next bedroom door. Seiji peeked in and quickly shut the door
before I could get a good look. All I saw was a brunette girl and a ghost-pale
boy with shiny black hair.
"Well, at
least we know she's not seeing Ryo," Seiji shook his head slightly, then
we stepped to what had to be his room.
Seiji walked in
before me and told me to wait at the door. As I glanced into the mostly dark
room, a few soft lights flickered on. I heard a sound much like a comforter
being pulled off a bed come from inside the room. Finally, Seiji bade me to
enter.
I looked around
the room to find it lit entirely by 12-inch white pillar candles, and I was
right; the comforter was not on the bed anymore. I turned in circles, entranced
by the light of the candle flames. Seiji caught my eye, and the look on his
face was one of sheer awe. He told me later that the flames had reflected off
my outfit, casting a fire-like glow all around me.
"You look
like a fire goddess," he whispered as he walked towards me.
"Thank
you," I replied as he took me into his arms.
I leaned forward,
barely brushing his lips with my own. We stood there, our breaths mingling
until finally Seiji couldn't take anymore. He leaned the rest of the way
forward and we kissed. After a few moments, he pulled me closer, and I slipped
my tongue into his mouth. Time slowed. I pushed him backwards onto the bed and
sat myself on top of him. He pushed my coat from my shoulders, and I pulled him
up to a sitting position.
"Seiji..."
I whispered into his ear.
"Yes, my
goddess," he answered, his eyes glazed over in passion.
"I want
you."
"I want you
too."
"I don't
just want part of you. I want you body, mind... and soul."
Seiji pulled me
with him so we were lying on the bed again. "I am yours, mind, body and
soul."
"Good..."
I hissed before I pulled him back to my mouth.
I felt the
sincerity in his pledge and knew that his soul was mine...
