Chobham AC  2 - 1 Midlife Crisis

( 0 - 1 h.t.)

Website FrontPage

It was a beautiful day for The Beautiful Game.

Overnight temperatures of minus-3 resulted in a Chobham pitch that would have been rock hard at breakfast but by the time we assembled for an 11am kick off a cloudless sky meant that the sun had thawed it out nicely.

Midlife played some great flowing football with neat passing and great 'one-twos' that penetrated the Chobham defence and created several chances before Andy Mc slotted home to give Midlife the lead on 20 minutes. Paul S. was a rock in defence, Simon I. was covering the ground from box to box like a man half his age and 'The Cat' made some great saves to keep us in the lead.

Chobham played some good football too and although we started the second half a goal  to the good a  5 minute spell of Midlife midfield mayhem saw Chobham score twice in 5 minutes and they stayed a goal up to the final whistle as chances went begging at both ends.

It says a lot for the good nature of the game that Chobham were able to field a 12-year-old lad on their left wing and there were only two free-kicks in the entire match - one per team.

John Dean sums it up thus:
"Best Midlife game I've been involved with, Great spirit"

Man of the Match: Simon Imbert.
